RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Overview Planner at the Municipality Executive Office's Urban Development and Exploitation operations, your task will be to drive the municipality's long-term work in societal planning forward. This involves working on assignments within various parts of the comprehensive physical planning. Among other things, you are expected to coordinate and lead project groups, prepare materials, order investigations, analyze prerequisites, develop proposals, and prepare decision-making materials for politics. The work requires you to scan the future and sort out what is relevant to include in the comprehensive planning for Kalmar.

With an overview of the municipality's overall land and water use, you will lead and participate in the preparation of materials, plans, strategies, and other guideline documents. Examples of assignments include developing and updating overview plans, thematic supplements to the overview plan, programs, and more. You will have significant responsibility for driving projects from start to finish. You will also increase internal competence among both employees and decision-makers and serve as the municipality's contact with other authorities and organizations. The work also includes citizen dialogues and other external communication.

In addition to Viable Cities, the municipality is currently involved in several externally funded projects, for example, Steppmark together with SGI, the Compact Cities exchange program, and the Project through the South East Triangle (Growth Agency). We continue to actively seek externally funded projects on an ongoing basis. Participating in and working within these forums and projects is part of the responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

You, the applicant, have an academic education with a focus on strategic planning or another education that we assess as equivalent. Your work experience should include work with comprehensive planning as well as project management and project planning. You have knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and within municipal processes. It is an advantage if you have experience in creating digital material/visualizations.

We place high demands on your analytical ability and your ability to collaborate. Therefore, you need to be skilled at communicating and easily able to express yourself appropriately in speech and writing. To drive your work forward, it is also necessary that you can take independent responsibility; you are engaged, tactical, structured, and have the ability to drive work towards set goals. To succeed in the role, it is required that you can build interest and get both individuals and groups of politicians, employees, and the general public on board.
