Job Responsibilities

As a detention officer, you will be part of a small group led by a group manager. You will work with supervision and guarding of persons deprived of their liberty and participate in strip searches, sampling, body searches, photography, evidence securing, and fingerprint analysis. The job also includes guarding and transporting persons to be interviewed or transported. Handling of detainees must be done in a correct and legally secure manner. Other administrative tasks supporting the operations may also occur.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you if you have:

• A completed upper secondary school education or what the employer assesses as equivalent.
• A strong interest in working with people and see a challenge in the fact that the work can sometimes be demanding.
• A valid B-driver's license (manual transmission).
• Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.

It is meritorious if you also:

• Have completed the Police's detention officer training with a passing grade.
• Have completed the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's training with a passing grade.
• Have a certified security guard training.
• Have previous work experience of working with/interacting with people in vulnerable and/or problematic situations (e.g., from healthcare, psychiatry, schools, prison service, security guard, order maintenance, or protective custody).
• Have experience with administrative tasks such as documentation habits.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for you who appear with maturity, integrity, and can act in a calm and professional manner even in stressful situations. You have good self-awareness, empathetic ability, and can adapt your interaction and demeanor for conflict prevention.

As a detention officer, you apply a high level of security awareness, which means you are reliable in situations where conflicts may arise, and you are skilled at both collaborating and working independently depending on the situation.

The role requires the ability to prioritize and quickly switch between tasks and pace, as well as taking initiative in your work. Since physical work is involved, we also require good physical fitness.

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
