Do you want to help create the conditions for future geological analyses by making materials from Sweden's bedrock accessible? Then you are the person we are looking for!

At our office in Malå, we have Europe's largest and constantly growing drill core archive, containing nearly four million meters of drill cores and a document archive with hundreds of thousands of documents such as maps, exploration reports, field notebooks, and drill core documentation. Many exploration companies that are or intend to become active in Sweden, as well as researchers and SGU's own employees, come to Malå to seek knowledge. For a limited period, we now need help restructuring, replacing storage solutions, and partially digitizing the material.

Job Responsibilities

You will primarily work in the paper archive, handling documents and rock samples, as well as repacking and photographing boxes of drill cores from all over Sweden. Manual handling of wooden boxes containing geological material or documents is part of the job. The work is physically demanding and is performed using personal protective equipment. The work is carried out both independently and in groups, under the supervision of a geologist and/or case officer at SGU's office in Malå.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• a secondary education (high school diploma)
• good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing

Meritorious experience and skills:

• handling of geological samples
• handling of archive or library materials
• previous experience in similar tasks

Personal Qualities

You are a person who enjoys working both independently and in a team. You are structured, meticulous, and have the ability to drive the work forward on your own. You have good skills in collaboration and communication. We will place emphasis on your personal attributes.

About the Position

Employment type: Special fixed-term employment on a full-time basis for approximately 4–6 months, but no later than until 2026-12-31. The work is performed at SGU's mineral information office in Malå during normal working hours. Start date by agreement.
