Carlslundsskolan is a newly built comprehensive school (grades 7–9) and a special needs school that opened in the autumn of 2024. The school has approximately 600 students and 90 staff members. Within our special needs school, our students study various subjects and subject areas. We have well-educated and dedicated staff who work together to ensure our students thrive, succeed, and are challenged.

Your Responsibilities

You will work as a resource support in a class within the special needs school, alongside other resource staff and educators. As a resource in the special needs school, you will be present in the classroom to support the student in their education, develop their language skills, foster engagement, and promote autonomy (self-determination).

You will help the student gain the prerequisites to participate in shared learning, in various teaching situations, in peer interactions, as well as in daily activities and society at large. You will work in close collaboration with your work team and other educators at the school. Tasks may include helping students with the support they need in all learning situations, both in the classroom and in other facilities. This also includes being a helping hand during meal times and toilet visits. The role also involves accompanying and supporting students in swimming lessons. Heavy lifting may occur in the job.

You are a secure adult and a good role model. You have the ability to connect with the students. You see every individual and create a safe environment at school by collaborating with others to achieve set goals. As a person, you are flexible, clear, and structured. You enjoy working with children who need special support, as you are a crucial part of their school day.

You have good collaboration skills, are receptive, and communicate easily with students and other key professional groups within the target group. You have strong cooperation skills and a professional approach towards children, relatives, and other actors involved with the students. You are engaged, willing to share our values, work towards set goals, and drive continuous improvements. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements

• Education as a residential support worker, assistant, or childcare worker.
• Experience working with children with intellectual disabilities.
• Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
• A valid extract from the criminal record, in accordance with the Act on Suitability Control.

Merits

• Knowledge of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and accessible learning environments.
• Experience working with students with epilepsy and/or autism.
• Experience with lifting aids.
• Experience with low-arousal approaches in threatening and violent situations.
• Experience working with challenging children or adults.

Employment Information

Two permanent positions starting 2026-08-10, and three temporary positions from 2026-08-10 to 2027-06-25 with the possibility of extension. Employment level is 75–100% as agreed.
