Dental Strateg and Chief Dental Officer
Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equal welfare and for ensuring that research and innovation yield results.
Do you want to help shape the future of dental care? The Public Dental Service is at the forefront of research and development and has a close collaboration with the Department of Odontology at Umeå University. Within the Public Dental Service, there is a broad range of competence areas. We provide both general and specialist dental care and participate in the clinical education of dentists, dental hygienists, dental nurses, and dental technicians.
We are now looking for a Dental Strategist with the role of Chief Dental Officer for the leadership team of the Public Dental Service. The Public Dental Service is part of the Health and Medical Care Administration and is led by the Area Manager for Dental Care. As a Dental Strategist and Chief Dental Officer, you have a central and strategically important role in the leadership and development of the Public Dental Service. You work across the county and contribute to ensuring equal, patient-safe, and long-term sustainable dental care. You report directly to the Area Manager for Dental Care, with your workplace in Umeå.
With us, you will have a strategic and meaningful role with significant impact on the development of dental care in the county. You will become part of a committed leadership team in an organization undergoing development and transition. As an employee of Region Västerbotten, you are also offered good employment conditions and benefits.
Responsibilities
As a Dental Strategist with us, you drive healthcare development and follow-up to strengthen equal care and health in Västerbotten. You lead and coordinate strategic development initiatives and contribute to translating goals and guidelines into practical change.
The responsibilities include providing operational support in specific development initiatives that require targeted support in planning, resource allocation, project management, evaluation, and follow-up. The main focus is to ensure a holistic perspective in the Public Dental Service's prioritized development initiatives and to strengthen synergies between efforts. An important task is to promote the inclusion and participation of Public Dental Service employees in important strategic development initiatives within the organization, as well as to ensure effective information, communication, and dialogue with residents and patients.
As Chief Dental Officer, you have the overall odontological responsibility within the Public Dental Service and are responsible for ensuring patient safety and quality in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines. You establish, develop, and follow up on clinical guidelines, care programs, and working procedures, and serve as a qualified support in odontological and patient safety-related matters. The role includes participating in the Public Dental Service's leadership group as well as in odontological leadership and preparatory forums, and representing the Public Dental Service in odontological matters both internally and externally. The role implies a holistic perspective where strategy, odontological quality, and business development are interconnected.
The role is a combined assignment where strategy, leadership, and odontological responsibility are woven together. You work at a strategic level to analyze, develop, and drive issues regarding the Public Dental Service's mission, working methods, and long-term prerequisites. This includes, among other things, preparing decision-making materials, following and interpreting national guidelines and legislation, and contributing to the development of care processes, prioritizations, and reimbursement models.
You will also support the Area Manager in political dialogue and strategic influence efforts at the national and regional levels. The work as a strategist may also involve other tasks within the leadership of the Public Dental Service.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed dentist with broad clinical experience and a good understanding of the dental care mission within healthcare. It is meritorious if you have an advanced education in community dentistry.
You have a professional approach and take responsibility for driving issues forward with quality and a holistic perspective. You enjoy working long-term, analyzing complex issues, and translating goals, guidelines, and needs into concrete improvements. You are receptive, communicate clearly and trustworthily, and collaborate well with different target groups.
You work in a structured and analytical manner and take initiative. You have a good ability to coordinate and process-manage work groups and create engagement towards common goals, and you build good relationships. You express yourself very well orally and in writing. Experience from a politically governed organization is meritorious.
