Specialist Physician in Cardiology with Focus on Interventional Cardiology/PCI

The Heart Centre comprises the units of cardiology, clinical physiology, arrhythmia unit, coronary angiography and PCI unit, thoracic surgery, and thoracic anaesthesia, employing approximately 400 staff. Within the Heart Centre, we offer the full spectrum of care, ranging from highly specialized treatment with regional responsibility for adult cardiovascular patients in the northern region, to county and sub-regional care involving investigation, treatment, nursing, rehabilitation, and preventive care, as well as public health work. Here you will find laboratory diagnostics, high technology, intensive care, alongside regular wards and clinics. Through cross-border collaboration, efficient care chains, continuous improvement work, and above all, dedicated and competent staff, we can offer care of very high quality. Research and development work is of great importance, as is every employee's responsibility and participation in various healthcare training and further education programs.

We are now looking for a specialist physician in cardiology with a focus on interventional cardiology/PCI. Currently, we have 3 PCI operators, of whom 2 are active in research. The work group also consists of 8 nurses and one biomedical analyst. The workplace is characterized by teamwork, varying pace, a teaching-friendly climate, and a good atmosphere. We participate in several national and international clinical studies involving a significant portion of our patients, which contributes to good contact with other university hospitals in the country.

Job Responsibilities

As a specialist physician with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that make people feel secure.

Your duties will be divided between the PCI lab (75%) and cardiology (25%). At the PCI lab, invasive diagnostics and catheter-based treatment are performed for chronic coronary syndrome, acute coronary syndrome, tamponade, bradyarrhythmia, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, aortic stenosis, persistent foramen ovale (PFO), and atrial septal defects (ASD). In cardiology, patients from the entire Northern Healthcare Region are investigated and treated for conditions such as arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, valve defects, cardiomyopathies/heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, and inherited cardiovascular diseases.

You will collaborate closely with the medical center, intensive care, and thoracic surgery regarding the acute management of patients with heart diseases. You will staff the cardiology ward, investigation unit, and cardiac intensive care unit, as well as conduct outpatient activities at the heart clinic. As a specialist physician at the Heart Centre, you have a responsibility to participate in teaching students from various educational categories and share responsibility for introducing new treatment methods within the cardiac field.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have Specialist Competence in Cardiology and experience in interventional cardiology (coronary angiography, PCI, pericardiocentesis, temporary pacemaker insertion). We place great emphasis on good judgment, strong teamwork skills, the ability to lead and inspire employees, and an interest in research and development.

Verification of medical license and all relevant specialist certificates via the National Board of Health and Welfare (HOSP) will take place upon receipt of the application.
