The Department of Geriatrics consists of a care ward and a memory clinic. Here, we work together to create the best possible conditions for our elderly and multi-morbid patients at Gävle Hospital. We are now looking for a Junior Doctor (Underläkare) with an interest in geriatrics for our geriatric care ward. Here you will find truly meaningful work! The position is a full-time temporary assignment.

Job Responsibilities

The mission of the Geriatrics Ward is to provide medical and rehabilitative treatment to elderly patients in the county. As a Junior Doctor here, you will collaborate with other doctors, nurses, assistant nurses, as well as physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Collaboration also takes place with other healthcare providers and authorities. The work is varied, challenges your mindset, and provides room for new ideas that help our elderly patients in their daily lives.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Admitting and discharging patients.
• Reviewing medication lists.
• Rounding, being responsible for the care team, and being available to other professions.
• Having conversations with patients and relatives.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are confident in your role as a Junior Doctor and who, with good initiative, take responsibility for driving the work forward. You are flexible and adapt easily when conditions change, while seeing opportunities and finding solutions to problems that arise in daily life. Your humility ensures that you meet patients, relatives, and colleagues with respect and sensitivity, contributing to a good work environment. With your strong collaboration skills, you work closely with colleagues from different professional categories and ensure that all parts of the care chain function well together. By combining initiative with a problem-solving approach, you become an important part of the team and in the long-term work to develop care.

In the role of Junior Doctor, you must:

• Have completed the ninth term of the medical program.
• Be able to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing, at a minimum C1 level.

Experience working within Swedish healthcare and clinical experience working with elderly and multi-morbid patients are meritorious.

Employment Type and Duration

Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer.
