The Aquaculture and Fisheries Industry Unit
The Aquaculture and Fisheries Industry Unit is responsible for managing and implementing the Swedish marine, fisheries, and aquaculture program. The program is part of the EU's Common Fisheries Policy. The unit also has a broader role in contributing to the promotion and development of industries within fishing, aquaculture, and the blue value chain. We do this, among other things, through government assignments. There are currently 13 employees at the unit.
Job Responsibilities
You will be part of a team responsible for the program management of the marine, fisheries, and aquaculture program. The work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues within the unit and in other units. You will assist the Swedish Government Offices with background material, as well as other external actors. These are orders that sometimes come with very short deadlines.
Your tasks involve monitoring both economic and other data for outcomes and results, analyzing and reporting on them, and proposing measures for effective program implementation. This means that together with your colleagues, you will:
- Be responsible for target calculations.
- Extract data from the agency's various database systems and process it.
- Prepare for, participate in, and follow up on work in committees and expert group meetings, for example, with the Monitoring Committee and the annual performance meeting with officials at the European Commission.
- Provide background material for the next period regarding EU fund-financed support for the development of blue industries and the aquatic environment.
Qualifications
We are looking for you with an academic education, preferably in economics or another higher education degree that, combined with your experience, is considered equivalent. To handle the assignment, you must have good knowledge of the Office suite, especially Excel. You should have experience handling and analyzing complex and numerical data. Good written and verbal skills in Swedish are required.
We would prefer that you have experience managing EU programs or experience from other tasks that have given you knowledge of the regulations regarding EU funds, or other experience considered equivalent. It is an advantage if you have experience and knowledge of the EU's Common Fisheries Policy and the regulations governing the marine, fisheries, and aquaculture program. It is also a plus if you have knowledge of the aquaculture and fisheries industries.
We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You should be skilled at understanding and analyzing numerical and complex data as well as achieving results together with others. The work also requires that you have a good ability to explain a complex whole, as you will be working with connections to the entire program. You need to be structured and stable, i.e., able to adapt to changed circumstances and quickly see what is needed to achieve the overall goals.
