About the position

This position is a combination of cemetery work and cremation work.

As a Cemetery Worker, the primary tasks involve cemetery maintenance, such as grave care, mowing grass, and tending to flowers and plants. In addition to this, maintenance work and occasional landscaping projects are performed, as well as duties as a cremation technician, providing a very varied work environment. Meeting visitors to the cemeteries, grave right holders, and the parish's employees is an important part of the job. During winter, scheduled snow readiness may be required on weekends, so living in the area is an advantage.

For cemetery work, you should have solid green skills and a horticultural education or equivalent. A Category B driver's license is required. A Category BE license, an excavator operator's certificate, a forklift license, experience working in a crematorium, and training in operational technology or equivalent technical education are considered merits.

We are looking for someone who is secure and flexible. The work can be physically demanding, so you should have good physical fitness. Attention to detail and stability are important. You must also have the ability to collaborate and interact with people in difficult life situations. You must express yourself very well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. As a person, you are communicative, solution-oriented, and unpretentious. Personal suitability is highly valued! It is important that you understand the organization and operations of the Church of Sweden and share its values.

About the operations

Värnamo Parish operates in a community where the church holds a central place in people's consciousness. We are a team of about 50 employees who together are responsible for the parish's activities, four churches with parish halls, and the cemetery operations, chapels, and crematorium of the funeral services. Värnamo Parish is the main employer for the funeral services. The mandate includes, among other things, responsibility for burial, the grave book, grave rights, maintenance, and the development of the cultural environment on the cemetery and burial ground. Our responsibility is to serve the public with grave sites and cremations; we are also responsible for the maintenance of cemeteries. Within our administrative area, there are four cemeteries: two in Värnamo and two in the countryside in Fryele and Nydala. The crematorium is located at Norra Kyrkogården (North Cemetery) in Värnamo. It is situated in fresh facilities and has a modern MITAB furnace. Within the funeral services, 12 people work, and during the growing season, an additional 5 people.
