Do you want to work as an Operations Technician at one of Sweden's most advanced energy and waste facilities? Here you will have a varied role in the daily operation of the plant and become part of a tight-knit and engaged shift team. At the Sävenäs facility, we take great responsibility for the region's sustainability by converting waste into electricity and district heating for hundreds of thousands of residents. We are now strengthening our shift teams and look forward to welcoming new colleagues!

What you will be part of

Sävenäs Waste-to-Energy Plant is one of the most efficient of its kind and an important part of West Sweden's energy system. The facility processes up to 550,000 tons of waste per year and produces both electricity and district heating. Renova is thus, alongside our mission in waste management and recycling, a significant player in energy production in the region. The way of working is characterized by high professionalism and technical pride, clear areas of responsibility, as well as very good cohesion and an inclusive, helpful work environment.

Role Description

As an Operations Technician at Renova, you have a central role in the daily operation of our technologically advanced power and heating plant in Sävenäs. The work is varied and combines overall process monitoring and control room work with rounds in the plant. In the role, you work closely with other operations technicians, shift leaders, and process engineers. The way of working is structured and safety-driven, with clear routines and a strong focus on collaboration. The introduction is extensive and adapted so that you gradually grow into the role and become fully independent. In addition, you are offered continuous competence development with good opportunities to grow in the role over time.

Your main tasks:

  • Rounds, control and regulation of the plant's processes, both from the control room and out in the plant
  • Operation and continuous optimization of the waste-to-energy plant and its auxiliary systems
  • Technical monitoring and control of our waste-fired steam boilers, turbines, generators, pumps, compressors, and other process equipment
  • Analysis and troubleshooting during operational deviations, in close collaboration with colleagues and other functions

The role involves continuous responsibility for maintaining high operational safety in a complex and safety-critical environment, where both technical understanding and attention to detail are crucial.

Shift Pattern and Working Hours

As an Operations Technician, you work in a tight-knit shift team within a well-planned and sustainable shift system. The shift pattern is designed to create balance between work, recovery, and free time, while also providing clear frameworks and predictability in everyday life.

  • Rolling 12-hour shifts with day and night passes with an average working time of 34.33 hours per week according to Sobona's collective agreement
  • Shift cycle over four weeks, followed by one completely free week and then a week with daytime work
  • Maximum three 12-hour shifts in a row and at least 48 hours rest when changing shifts from day to night and vice versa
  • 25 days of vacation according to schedule, including four consecutive summer weeks
  • 72 hours of working time reduction per year according to the current agreement

The shift schedule provides both good recovery and longer consecutive periods of leave, which many appreciate as an important part of life balance.

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are technically curious, safety-conscious, and thrive in a role where responsibility, structure, and collaboration are important. You work methodically and follow routines, but also have the ability to analyze processes and act when something deviates. Since the work is carried out in shift teams, it is crucial that you are a reliable and helpful colleague and can communicate clearly and collaborate closely with others to ensure stable operation.

We see that you have:

  • Operations Technician, Shift Operator, or Process Engineer education with a focus on power/heat or a naval engineering degree, or acquired equivalent competence through relevant work experience
  • Ability to speak, read, and write Swedish fluently
  • Interest in quality, development, and improvement work
  • Good collaboration skills and a responsible, non-hierarchical way of working

Advantageous is experience with: control systems such as ABB 800xA or similar variants and experience from power, heat, or cogeneration plants as well as the process industry.

Develop with us!

Renova reinvests its results in new technology and continued development of the business. At Sävenäs, several long-term development initiatives are underway and planned, including in flue gas cleaning and carbon capture (CCS). As an Operations Technician, you are close to the operational activities even in change work and receive training and insight into new technical solutions when they are introduced. We offer:

  • A clear societal mission focused on sustainability and energy
  • A technologically advanced and well-organized facility to be proud of
  • Secure employment and a stable employer
  • Strong cohesion and a wonderful community
