Job Description

As a nurse, you work in a team together with different professions. You are responsible for and lead the team in the specific and basic care during your shift. One of our greatest strengths is communication, which ensures that work flows smoothly during the shift.

The oncology section conducts both planned and emergency operations and cares for patients in curative and palliative stages. Oncological nursing is a central part of your work, for example, cytostatic treatment, radiotherapy, managing side effects and various complications that may occur in connection with treatment, pain management, and palliative care. We place great importance on a good approach characterized by respect and ethics in the team and in patient meetings. The team cares for adult patients with various cancer diagnoses, which means your work will be varied and include many different tasks. These tasks include, among other things, cytostatic handling, antibiotic administration, and transfusions, which are often given via central venous access.

Work Group

We are a cheerful work group that enjoys working together and supports each other in daily work. We use reflection after each shift to highlight the positive and negative aspects of the day. On the department, there is a reception nurse who is a daily support for each team, as well as a coordinator who coordinates and handles much of the administrative work. Furthermore, there are four management nurses who have extra responsibility for you as a new employee. There is an oncology on-call service 24/7 to contact, who is also responsible for rounds during weekends. A pharmacist refills the medication trolley, medication dispenser, and basic medication supply. We also have a service cleaner who handles ordering and refilling of supplies. There is also a meal server on the unit.

About You

You are a licensed nurse or a licensed specialist nurse in oncology or medical care.

You thrive as part of a cross-professional team with the patient in focus, where all professional categories learn from each other. You have good empathetic skills, being able to put yourself in someone else's perspective or situation without taking over the person's feelings.

We are looking for someone who finds it easy to work independently and collaborates well with others. You create engagement and participation. You also have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work efficiently.

Since you work in constant dialogue with inpatients, relatives, colleagues, and other operations, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing. You also need to be able to handle different IT systems.

Application and Employment

We offer 1 position with a start date of June 1st or as agreed. We work with continuous selection, so please submit your application as soon as possible.

Before employment in a patient-facing role within Region Östergötland, you will be asked to fill out a health declaration.

We warmly welcome your application! If you need help registering in the system, contact customer service Support and Service, 010-103 60 00, during office hours.

To staffing, mediation, and recruitment agencies as well as sellers:

We kindly but firmly decline direct contact with staffing, mediation, and recruitment agencies as well as other external actors and sellers of additional job advertisements. Region Östergötland has procured agreements.
