The primary goal and task of the Surgical Centre in Umeå is to provide highly specialized and high-quality care and research for patients within the northern healthcare region. The clinic is divided into sections for urology, breast, endocrine, vascular, colorectal, and upper gastrointestinal surgery, operating within both outpatient and inpatient care. Nursing at the Surgical Centre is characterized by a holistic approach where many different professional categories are engaged and collaborate for the best results.

At our Surgical Emergency Department (KAVA), we handle the acute influx of surgical patients, primarily from the Emergency Room, offering safe and efficient care in a dynamic environment. The department has 10 care beds, which also contributes to the Surgical Centre at NUS (New University Hospital) caring for its own surgical patients to a greater extent and reducing satellite procedures.

We are now looking for nurses who want to become part of our team. Working at the Surgical Emergency Department is a very exciting and stimulating job. Together with dedicated colleagues and other professional groups, you will contribute to building a cohesive team with expertise in acute and traumatic surgical patients.

We offer an individualized introduction, support from trained mentors, and scheduled time for reflection and development. As a new nurse, you will also benefit from the region's induction year with regular meetings and training. Our working time models are flexible and designed to give you, as an employee, a more balanced workday.

Job Description

As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and dedication that make people feel safe. You will work within a broad surgical field with a focus on emergency care and trauma care.

On the department, we handle abdominal observations, appendicitis, gallstone issues, bowel obstruction, surgical and traumatic injuries, among other things. As a nurse, you play an important role in the nursing team where you are jointly responsible for daily nursing care, nutrition, mobilization, wound care, and other tasks. You work closely with the patient, and the job involves identifying risks, assessing, treating, and evaluating the patient's various nursing needs. You will have an important role in leading, prioritizing, and coordinating care work together with your care team. Rotation assignments may become relevant, meaning you will have the opportunity to rotate through our sections to enhance your surgical competence.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse. We consider it a merit if you have experience in surgery or emergency care.
