The Technical Services Administration is the enabling authority for Trelleborg Municipality. We are a secure, safe, and value-creating resource that works proactively, efficiently, and sustainably together with those who live, work, and visit in Trelleborg Municipality. The administration's five departments have the overall responsibility for planning, managing, and developing the public space in different areas. We do this, for example, by maintaining the municipality's public places, waste management and sewage treatment, water supply, and infrastructure. We also deliver internal services such as operation and maintenance of the municipality's facilities, cleaning, system administration, and IT support.

The Workplace

The Circular Economy and Water Department is a department within the Technical Services Administration, where our joint mission is to ensure that the municipality's water and sewage operations function so that our subscribers receive good drinking water and that the sewage is treated before it reaches the recipient. The department is also responsible for collecting waste and materials for recycling and reuse in the municipality. On the department, we have 70 employees distributed across six units and two sections.

The Waste Collection Unit is responsible for waste collection and operates two Recycling Centers (ÅVC) in-house. The collection of sludge and fat is carried out by contracted contractors. On the Collection Section, we have 16 waste collectors, a foreman, and a section manager.

We are now looking for a waste collector for a summer temporary position. You will join a team with experienced waste collectors where good service and safety are key words. We strive for an even gender distribution and see diversity as a strength.

The work as a summer temporary employee begins with two weeks of introduction and certification training for waste collectors.

Job Responsibilities

As a waste collector, you work as a driver with property-proximity waste collection throughout Trelleborg Municipality. Municipal waste is collected according to a fixed driving schedule at villas, multi-family houses, and businesses. Your main tasks are to empty different waste materials into a rear-loading garbage truck, handle the vehicle's digital equipment, and be responsible for the maintenance of your vehicle. As a waste collector with us, you get the opportunity to work outdoors in the fresh air and move around a lot in the job. Our fleet currently consists of eight four-compartment trucks, five two-compartment vehicles, and a service vehicle.

The summer temporary position is a fixed-term employment during regular staff holidays for approximately 10–12 weeks for the period of June to August, with the possibility of continued employment as an hourly temporary worker if needed.

Normal working hours are between 06:00 – 14:00.

Qualifications

The position requires a Category C driver's license and a certificate of professional competence.

Since the work involves daily physical activity, such as handling bins and repeatedly moving in and out of the truck, you must have good physical fitness. Furthermore, the assignment requires computer proficiency, as we document via digital aids, for example, incident reporting. In daily work, you communicate with colleagues and citizens, and work based on instructions and routines that require you to be able to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing.

Working as a waste collector with us means you are given significant responsibility in daily work. You need to be meticulous, service-oriented with good communication skills, and able to be flexible. As a waste collector, your focus should be on providing good service and professional treatment to customers and citizens whom you meet in your work. You have good teamwork skills, as well as enjoying working independently.
