About the Department

The Clinic for Acute Care, Medicine, Geriatrics, and Rehabilitation at Avesta Hospital is now looking for an additional occupational therapist with an interest in neurological rehabilitation.

Job Responsibilities

As an occupational therapist within specialized rehabilitation, you will have a varied and meaningful job where you have the opportunity to follow the patient through several parts of the care chain – from the acute phase to continued rehabilitation at home and in outpatient care. You work clinically with patient-centered care within inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Your clinical duties include, among other things:

• Neurological rehabilitation in the acute phase after a stroke, where you are an important part of the early rehabilitation work.
• Geriatric rehabilitation and rehabilitative interventions within the medical department.
• Home rehabilitation according to ESD (Early Supported Discharge), where you assess and treat patients in their home environment after neurological injury – an area that allows for great independence, creativity, and innovative working methods.
• Outpatient rehabilitation; continued neurological rehabilitation after hospital stay, memory clinics and cognitive assessments, driving assessments, as well as rehabilitation of patients with chronic conditions after neurological injury.

You work in close collaboration with physiotherapists, doctors, nurses, social workers, assistant nurses, and other professions in an interdisciplinary team. Your occupational therapy competence is central to assessment, treatment, and investigation, and you have a clear and value-adding role in the team's work.

In addition to clinical work, there is an opportunity to participate in departmental development and improvement work, take part in supervision and further education of other employees and students. You also have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge in an area that interests you particularly.

Work within other clinics and wards may occur and will be adapted in dialogue based on the department's needs and your interests.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a licensed occupational therapist, or alternatively an occupational therapist in term 5 or 6 of their education.
• Has good knowledge of the Swedish language to communicate both in writing and verbally.
• Has a driver's license for a manual transmission car, as driving is part of the job.

Experience with cognitive assessments and rehabilitation is an advantage.

You have a burning interest in occupational therapy and a curiosity to learn new things. As a person, you have good collaboration skills and thrive working both independently and in a group.
