At ESS Group, we create destinations people want to return to, not just hotels to sleep in. It all started in 2007 down at Ystad Saltsjöbad, and today we have 15 hotel destinations, with more on the way. We are on a journey, and it has just begun. Now we are looking for you who truly loves the web and wants to help shape the next chapter. "Web & Wonder Maker" is a deliberately vague title, and you will become a key player in our web team, which is part of the Marketing Group at ESS Group in Gothenburg. We work every day to create loyal guests, and we are located on the 25th floor of Jacy'z Hotel & Resort in Gårda.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who is an experienced web professional and a natural leader. You are deeply proficient in WordPress – theme structure, ACF, plugins, performance optimization, and how to build flexible, beautiful, scalable sites that drive sales and endure over time. This is the majority of our daily web life, and we want you to master both the big picture and the details.

At the same time, you are curious about where the web is heading. You have a genuine interest in React, Next.js, Sanity, and other modern tools, and you would like to explore how headless solutions, new CMS platforms, and AI-driven workflows can play a larger role for us in the future. You do not need to be a senior developer – you can write minimal code, learn as needed, and hold meaningful dialogues with developers, vendors, and tools. Today, we find that combining basic coding understanding with the right AI tools often goes a long way.

You also have deep knowledge in SEO and AI optimization – you build sites that are visible in both traditional search and AI-driven answer engines like Google AI Overview, ChatGPT Search, and Perplexity. This is a natural part of how you think.

As a team member in our small web team, which is part of our larger marketing team, you are good at coaching, listening, and finding the right priorities. You jump in to solve the tricky problems, talk to a colleague to crack a challenge, or set up that automation no one had time for. You always lead by doing, never by pointing.

You nerd out on details, test new things, automate, question, and never quite finish – because there is always something to improve. You build sites that are not just beautiful, but load fast, convert, and are right for the commercial challenge we face. You move effortlessly between design, content, technology, and analytics, and you understand how it all fits together.

You are curious, technically confident, and keep up with what is happening in web, AI, and digital experiences. You take responsibility, drive your work forward, and do not give up when things get tough; you just solve it.

We believe you have at least 5 years of experience working with the web, and we see it as very positive if you have previously led or coached a small web team. Experience with WordPress, headless CMS, performance optimization, AI tools in workflows, and modern deployment flows are seen as major pluses.

What might a week with us look like?

You are a key player in the team handling all our 15 destination sites, plus a few other fun web projects running alongside. You own the web experience from start to finish, although the finish line keeps moving forward because we love to turn, tweak, and get better.

This means your tasks include, among other things:

• Drive, build, and optimize our WordPress sites based on campaigns and business needs
• Initiate ongoing A/B tests to improve both conversion and user experience
• Optimize load times and technical performance so the sites deliver at the top
• Work with SEO and AI visibility as a natural part of how the sites are built
• Explore and evaluate new technologies like React, Next.js, and Sanity and help chart the direction forward
• Follow up and analyze behaviors in GA4 and heatmaps, turning insights into concrete improvements
• Be a driving force in how AI can be used both in workflows and in the product we build
• Challenge existing ways of working and build better tools, processes, and flows

You collaborate closely with our customers, i.e., our destinations, as well as our paid specialists, content creators, graphic designers, and developers, acting as a natural bridge between technology, look & feel, and business.

And yes, Web & Wonder Maker is a somewhat vague and broad title. But that is who we are here. Makers & Doers, on a journey that only gets more and more fun.

Details regarding the position and the process ahead

Employment type: Full-time, permanent with a 6-month probation period

In your application, we want you to rate yourself on certain competencies and traits. We also want you to describe your experience in a few short sentences. We guess you are stronger in certain areas and burn extra hot for something – tell us so we understand who you are. If you move forward in the process, there will also be a small case study where you present how you think about web, experience, and conversion.
