About the role Wrknest is now looking for a Hardware Designer for Smartoptics, a company in strong growth within optical data communications. Here, high-performance systems are developed with a focus on bandwidth, energy efficiency, and robust design for tomorrow's network infrastructure.

Your future responsibilities

You will be responsible for your own circuit board and drive it through the entire development process, from design to a finished, verified product ready for testing and further use.

Examples of tasks:

• Develop and design circuit boards (4–10 layers)
• Work with CPU, RAM, and DDR solutions, including transition to new platforms like i.MX9
• Ensure the design works in layout and collaborate with external layout resources
• Drive board bring-up and verify functionality
• Collaborate with software teams to ensure startup and basic functionality
• Test, troubleshoot, and verify hardware
• Coordinate with production regarding prototypes and manufacturing
• Ensure the board reaches certification and can be handed over to other teams
• Work closely with the mechanical team to ensure the design meets form factor and EMC requirements

We are looking for someone who

• Has at least approx. 3 years of experience in hardware development and has developed at least one circuit board previously
• Has experience with schematic capture, preferably in Orcad
• Has an understanding of layout and how design choices affect the final result
• Has worked with CPU-based systems and memory solutions such as DDR
• Has experience with or interest in NXP i.MX platforms (i.MX6, i.MX8, i.MX9 is a plus)
• Speaks and writes English fluently; Swedish is a plus
