At Svenska kraftnät, we are now looking for a Unit Manager for Cable Technical Management, where you will help shape the transmission network of the future.

About the role

As the manager of Cable Technical Management, you are responsible for leading and developing the unit to achieve set goals and results through active leadership and business development. The unit belongs to the Transmission Technology department, which works with the technical design, specification, and development of Svenska kraftnät’s power cables and overhead lines.

The unit is responsible for the technical design, installation, and further development of cable systems and cable monitoring systems in the transmission network (230 kV and above), as well as the system properties of the cables. The work involves delivering technical expertise to both the project operations and the infrastructure management.

An important part of the assignment is also to lead and develop our marine operations. This is carried out cross-functionally in collaboration with other parts of the organization and involves developing processes, working methods, and control documents, as well as identifying the business needs within the marine area.

The unit currently consists of seven employees and four consultants and is part of a section with broad specialist competence in cable technology, installation, and marine technology.

In this role, you are responsible for:

  • Leading, coaching, and creating good conditions for leading engineers and the team as a whole.
  • Ensuring efficient resource management and following up on consultants in ongoing assignments.
  • Driving strategic work such as goal steering, planning, follow-up, and technology development.
  • Building and developing relationships with industry actors and external stakeholders.
  • Strengthening collaboration and a holistic view through cross-functional work, including close dialogue with interfaces such as Cable Project Management.

You will play a central role in shaping and developing a rapidly growing business, where you build a successful organization and culture characterized by collaboration, responsibility, and courage. The assignment includes leading some of Sweden’s most advanced cable projects, from offshore installations to complex solutions in urban environments, as well as participating in international cooperation within standardization and technology development.

You report to the Section Manager for Cable Technology and Installation. Through your work, you contribute to a robust electricity supply and a strengthened total defense.

About you

Requirements:

Education: You have a university degree or a Master of Science in Engineering in fields such as electrical engineering, energy technology, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, technical physics, or equivalent competence acquired in another way that Svenska kraftnät considers equivalent.

You also have:

  • Several years of managerial experience with responsibility for personnel, budget, and operations.
  • Experience in leading and developing a technical operation.
  • Experience working in organizations within the energy sector that handle large and/or technically complex projects.
  • Good ability to communicate in both speech and writing in Swedish and English.
  • A valid B driver’s license.

Merits

  • Further education and/or certification programs in management and leadership.
  • Experience in areas relevant to the unit, such as technical project management, cable design, or installation of high-voltage cables.
  • Experience with offshore operations.
  • Experience with business development focused on technology and processes.
  • Experience with Contract management.
  • Experience working in the public sector.
