Department of Ecology

The position is located at the Unit of Forest Entomology within the Department of Ecology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). The unit conducts both theoretical and applied research on forest pests. Researchers at the unit collaborate within the field and related disciplines both nationally and internationally, maintaining close contact with stakeholders in Sweden. The task for this advertised position is to update and supplement information on insect pests and control measures for a new, partially revised version of the web service "Skogsskada" with Swedish text.

About the Job

The position involves the following tasks for the web service Skogsskada:

• Update existing descriptions, including images and Swedish text, regarding the biology, life cycles, and damage caused by insect pests. Indications of possible misidentifications are important to facilitate field diagnosis.
• Supplement Skogsskada with descriptions of new pests, which tree species are attacked, and the damage caused by the insects.
• Complete and update texts regarding possible control measures against the pests.

Your Background

We are looking for someone with well-documented experience in national and international scientific work on the ecology of forest pest insects, including identification of insect species and diagnosis of damage in the field. The assignment involves updating information on forest pests for stakeholders who will also use the information to report damage. Excellent written communication skills in Swedish are required. We prioritize applicants with a PhD in the subject or a related field, preferably with the title of Docent.

Fixed-term employment for 6–8 months with the possibility of extension.

Extent: 20–30%.
