Do you want to contribute to societal development in a central and eventful role at the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket)? We are now recruiting National Operational Leaders for the Traffic business area, based in Stockholm.

Responsibilities

As a National Operational Leader at Trafikverket, your task is to coordinate, assign tasks, and support the regional operational leaderships within the Traffic business area. From a national focus, you will maintain the operational status of traffic for both roads and railways to ensure a unified national delivery. Since the responsibility in this role stems from a national perspective, many minute-operational issues are instead handled by regional operational leadership functions in consultation with the national operational leadership.

In this assignment, the section handles proactive and operational risk management and overall coordination of the regional operational leaderships, with the aim of achieving high quality in operational delivery and minimizing the consequences of traffic disruptions.

As a National Operational Leader, you are responsible for:

  • Proactively monitoring traffic and prioritizing national traffic on both roads and railways to ensure unified national disruption management.
  • Handling international disruption management within the European railway network.
  • Deciding on changes to national traffic systems and making overarching strategic decisions for operational delivery.
  • Coordinating national traffic information by collecting, analyzing, and, if necessary, assigning tasks to Regional Operational Leaders to ensure unified quality in cross-modal national information.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and describing risks and deviations, as well as requesting measures from a national perspective in the tactical and operational situation to create preventive actions and reduce deviations.
  • Compiling and communicating information about the traffic situation and society-impacting information to line managers and Trafikverket's leadership during major incidents.
  • Maintaining communication with the National Duty Officer (TIB) and the Operational Communications Chief (OKC) in the event of major national disruptions or crises.
  • Handling incoming calls to the opening function and deciding on the activation of Sweden's emergency airports.
  • Representing the section in various forums, projects, and working groups internally and externally to prevent and reduce deviations in operational delivery.
  • Collaborating and maintaining communication with other roles within Trafikverket's business areas in a tactical and operational situation.

The position is scheduled and part of a 24/7 operation with a 3-shift system and duty service around the clock.

Qualifications

Who are you?

To thrive and succeed in this role, you must have the ability to understand and anticipate risks and consequences of problems/disruptions in traffic and minimize their impact through solutions that benefit both the organization and travelers, passengers, and businesses. This is achieved through communication with numerous internal and external parties. Since the work takes place in an operational 24/7 environment, you should be comfortable with the fact that conditions can change rapidly. You must be able to adapt to new circumstances and be stress-resistant. You possess strong operational analytical skills and can assess and summarize what is relevant and important amidst large amounts of information. Since the role requires you to make quick and well-considered decisions, you must feel confident and comfortable doing so.

We are looking for you who

  • have a completed and approved upper secondary education, or other education combined with relevant work experience deemed equivalent by Trafikverket.
  • have a few years of current and relevant work experience in a leading role (work leader, project leader, or assignment leader) within an operational environment in traffic/traffic control, Police, SOS, or the aviation industry, or other experience deemed equivalent by Trafikverket.
  • have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you:

  • have current and relevant experience in developing traffic analyses of complex systems.
  • have current and relevant experience in crisis management and/or crisis leadership work in a large organization.
  • have current and relevant experience in a leading role within the road and/or railway industry.
