As a Road Engineering Specialist at the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), you will help facilitate daily life for residents and businesses across Sweden by contributing to the infrastructure of the future.

Responsibilities

As a Road Engineering Specialist, you will belong to a section within the Design Unit under our national department, Technology and Environment. The section includes specialists in road engineering, road design, drainage, landscape architecture, and lighting.

Your tasks will primarily concern technical and quality issues within the field of road engineering. In your role, you will support projects during the procurement and implementation of investment measures, as well as contribute to the transfer of experience within project work. You will participate in various types of investment projects (within our operational areas Major Projects and Investment), from the planning phase to the construction phase. A central part of the role involves preparing tender documents and conducting delivery controls of technical descriptions and other project documents. The role also includes occasional site visits to various projects.

There are approximately 20 people working with road engineering within the investment area, and you will also be part of a competence network for road engineering across the entire Transport Administration.

The position also involves coordinating your work with adjacent technical areas. The projects supported by investment specialists vary in budget volume from 5 million SEK up to several billion SEK. As a road engineering specialist, you also have the opportunity to participate in the development of regulations, technical investigations, research and development projects, standardization, environmental monitoring, and representing the Transport Administration in relevant industry organizations both nationally and internationally.

Qualifications

Who are you?

As a person, you have a good ability to see the big picture from several aspects such as technology, environment, law, and economics. To succeed in this role, you need to be solution-oriented, structured, and used to working independently. You also have good collaboration skills and are clear and pedagogical in your communication, as the work involves many internal and external contacts.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A Master of Science in Engineering degree or other education and experience in the field that we consider equivalent.
  • Several years of relevant experience in the field of road engineering (road surfacing or road construction).
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.
  • Knowledge of English in speech and writing.
  • A driver's license for passenger cars.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Good knowledge of the Transport Administration's current regulations within road engineering.
  • Good knowledge of asphalt pavements.

Additional Information

Do you want a flexible daily routine with the possibility of working from home? In this role, you can work remotely up to two days a week.
