Your responsibilities and tasks

Your tasks consist of providing qualified legal advice within the subject areas covered by the agency's mandate, through active participation in preparations, projects, and other working groups.

The extensive and urgent mandate of the agency places special demands on the role of an advisory lawyer. To succeed, you must be able to work with a holistic view of the operations and with a constructive and bold working method, without exceeding the legal frameworks we must adhere to. You also need a good ability to understand and determine how your legal knowledge can best support the agency's operations and then communicate your legal assessments in a clear and relevant manner.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for someone who has:

• A Master of Laws degree (jur.kand.) or a law degree (180 credits/270 ECTS points)
• A good ability to work in an advisory role
• A good ability for holistic thinking and legal analysis of complex issues
• A good ability for a solution-oriented working method
• A good ability to express yourself well verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

It is an asset if you have:

• Completed notary service or
• Experience of work from another authority within total defence or
• Experience of legislative work or work with the development of regulations

In addition to the above competence requirements, your personal qualities are decisive for the appointment. It is necessary that you have a very good ability to communicate, collaborate, and take initiative. As a person, you should be perceived as unpretentious and accessible without compromising your professional integrity. You also need to be independent, flexible, and have a genuine interest in collaborating with other professions. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency is an authority that must have the ability to handle crises of various kinds, and it is therefore important that you are stress-tolerant and have the ability to operate even under unforeseen and disturbed conditions.

About the employment

We offer you a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period.

Your location will be Karlstad or Stockholm, and travel is part of the employment.

The majority of our employments involve placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. In the event of placement in a security class, a security check with a registry check will be carried out prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are assigned to war duties.

About us

In the Department of Law and Security, we have four units, two of which handle legal issues. We have a total of approximately 45 employees and we are located in both Karlstad and Stockholm.

We have an activity-based office where you can choose your workplace according to your own needs. You also have the partial opportunity to work remotely. We also offer you the opportunity to take out a health care hour and you will also receive a health care allowance. For you as a state employee, there are also favorable holiday conditions.
