We are seeking dedicated support assistants for a student residence in Östersund
We are currently looking for engaged and responsible support assistants/support persons for our student residence in central Östersund! We are particularly looking for someone who is confident in low-arousal interaction and has the ability to meet the citizen with calm, respect, and understanding, even in challenging situations.
About the residence and duties
A student residence under LSS (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) is a housing form for people with disabilities who need support in their daily lives to live as independent and meaningful a life as possible. In this residence, one person lives, which means that as an employee, you have the opportunity to work closely with the citizen and create a safe, stable, and individually adapted daily routine.
We are currently a team consisting of 8 support assistants/support persons available around the clock. You always work together with a colleague to ensure safety, continuity, and quality. To succeed in the assignment, you have close support and collaboration with the region's habilitation services, psychologists, speech therapists, and doctors. Within our own organization, there is also operational support, support pedagogues, and psychologists. The student residence has a staff room with an office and sleeping quarters for sleeping on-call shifts.
Working hours and employment
Working hours vary but are mainly scheduled between 14:00 and 09:00 with sleeping on-call duty. Some work shifts are scheduled during the day, between 08:30 and 16:00. On weekends and holidays, 24-hour shifts with sleeping on-call duty are also worked. The working hours suit you if you enjoy working longer shifts and thereby get more continuous free time. The times may vary based on the needs of the operation.
These positions are at 85–88%, but you have the right to work up to full-time within other parts of the Disability Sector based on the needs of the operation and in dialogue with you as an employee. Start date according to agreement.
Your new job
As a support assistant, you have an important role where you provide individually adapted support to one of our citizens with a disability. Your task is to pedagogically strengthen the citizen's opportunities to live as independent a life as possible based on their own needs and conditions.
The work involves creating structure in daily life, personal care, supporting and accompanying the citizen in activities they participate in, such as cycling, outings with the organization, and visits to environments with animals. You work both supportively and pedagogically, gradually helping the citizen to develop and maintain their abilities with the help of various methods and tools that promote independence, for example, through picture support. Documentation is an important part of the work; we prefer that you have good computer skills. Staff drive cars to and from activities, which means that a Class B driver's license is an asset but not a requirement.
