Job Advertisement: Case Officer in the Rural Development Unit

The County Administrative Board works on behalf of the government and strives to ensure that national goals are implemented in the region. Our broad operations encompass environmental, nature, cultural heritage, business, urban development, rural, preparedness, and total defense issues. In dialogue with other actors, we coordinate various interests and promote sustainable development in Gotland.

We have over 150 employees, and our chief is Governor Charlotte Petri Gornitzka.

Description

The Rural Development Unit works regionally for the EU's and Sweden's agricultural and rural policies.

The goal is for agriculture to be competitive and sustainable in the long term while preserving valuable natural and cultural landscapes.

The EU's new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) during the program period 2023–2027 focuses on the environment and sustainability, ensuring that we have competitive businesses that can provide food on our tables. We now need reinforcement to manage our rural support.

We are looking for someone who wants to work with us in an exciting and developing environment. You are an experienced case officer and want to work at a government agency focused on rural development. You will belong to the Rural Development Unit, which consists of about thirty employees.

In the unit, you will also have colleagues who work with, for example, processing and controlling EU agricultural support, animal welfare, competency projects that promote agricultural development, and issues related to food supply in the region.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will be to process project and investment support within the EU's and Sweden's strategic plan for the Common Agricultural Policy, but other processing tasks within the unit may also arise. Specifically, you will receive applications, assess them in relation to applicable regulations, and respond to inquiries about what is permissible to apply for funding. The work involves a lot of contact with actors seeking various support. You will have experienced colleagues to assist you, who have extensive experience in collaborating and supporting each other.

We strive for a flexible and adaptable organization to always handle new assignments from the national level. Therefore, your and your colleagues' responsibilities may change over time depending on how the agency's assignment portfolio develops.

Qualifications

You should have a university degree in areas we consider relevant. Education in the green sector is an asset. The main task is processing, so good experience in administrative work and public sector work is important. Experience with EU programs and knowledge of or experience from agricultural or other rural enterprises is advantageous.

The work is governed by extensive regulations, so you must be meticulous and able to follow the rules and procedures surrounding support management. You are accustomed to communicating with various actors and have a pedagogical ability in contact with people. You are structured yet flexible and take responsibility together with colleagues to ensure that the unit's assignments are completed on time. As a case officer for our support, you need to be able to work independently while also being a resource in your workgroup and at the County Administrative Board as a workplace. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.

We believe in equal opportunities for all, and one of our main tasks is to promote diversity and a workforce composition at the County Administrative Board that reflects the region's population. So, last but not least, we hope that you, with your background and skills, can contribute to increasing our diversity.

A valid driver's license and good computer skills are required for the position.
