Speech Therapist at Language Preschool Delfinen

You will be employed within the central Child and Student Health but placed at the Language Preschool Delfinen.

The position is a fixed-term full-time employment starting in August and ending in June 2027.

Language Preschool Delfinen is a specialized facility located in the same premises as Jarlaberg Preschool, with its own fenced yard and proximity to playgrounds, forests, and Nyckelviken Nature Reserve. The facility caters to children with severe language impairment who require intensive speech therapy interventions. The language impairment can involve both language comprehension and expressive language skills/speech. Through high staff density and close collaboration between educators, speech therapists, and guardians, each child receives individually tailored support. Language training is a natural part of the entire day, where alternative and augmentative communication, such as TAKK and GAKK, is used as an integral part of the work. Your Mission

As a speech therapist, you will work with eight children aged 3-5 years with severe language impairment who require intensive and qualified speech therapy interventions. You will assess the children's language abilities and, in collaboration with the children's relatives, develop individual treatment plans. You are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on treatment interventions. Speech and language therapy will take place both individually and in groups.

As a speech therapist, you will work in a team with three educators with special expertise in language impairment. You will contribute speech therapy expertise through advice and support, and assist educators and guardians in how they can enhance the children's language development.

Your Responsibilities Also Include:

• Collaboration with external actors and the municipality's other speech therapists
• Participation in the admission process
• Planning and implementation of training and professional development initiatives for guardians
• Qualified assessments of the children's treatment needs
• Development and design of working methods, pedagogy, and routines that strengthen children's abilities and minimize the consequences of the language impairment
• Referring to additional assessments or treatments with other providers as needed.

Your Experience

For this position, you are required to have:

• Licensure as a speech therapist
• Experience working as a speech therapist
• Experience working with children
• Good digital competence with experience in using digital educational tools
• Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

It is advantageous if you also have:

• Experience in speech therapy work with children and/or parents
• Experience working in preschool
• Experience mentoring educational staff
• Knowledge of sign communication and/or other alternative communication methods such as picture support communication and TAKK.

As the sole speech therapist at the preschool, it is important that you can manage, structure, and take responsibility for your time and tasks. You plan and organize your work based on the needs of the children and the organization. You are clear in your communication, even during tough and sensitive conversations. At the same time, you demonstrate good judgment in statements, actions, and decisions. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
