Research Assistant at the Department of Ecology, Environment and Botany

The Department of Ecology, Environment and Botany (DEEP) conducts research and education at the Arrhenius Laboratories on the Frescati campus. We are about 100 employees, including PhD students and postdocs, distributed across 25 research groups.

Job Responsibilities

As a research assistant, you will join a team of researchers at DEEP and the Department of Physical Geography at Stockholm University, as well as at Linköping University, contributing to ongoing research regarding the evaluation of wetland restorations. You will collect materials and data in the field, with some post-processing in the laboratory. The main tasks involve emptying insect traps in the field and transferring these to storage tubes, downloading data from measuring equipment, and some maintenance of equipment in the field. The field locations are in southern Sweden (Östergötland, Skåne, and Västra Götaland), so you will spend most of your work at these locations. Work in grazing areas occurs, which means close contact with grazing animals.

Qualifications

  • Applicants should have basic knowledge of biology at the university level.
  • Experience working with insects and collecting them is an advantage.
  • The ability to work independently and collaborate in a research environment is required.
  • The ability to work away from home for extended periods is a requirement.
  • A driver's license is a requirement.

About the Position

The position is a fixed-term full-time employment for three months, with the possibility of extension. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date at the end of April 2026 or by agreement.
