Subject
Fashion studies is an interdisciplinary subject that deals with communicating expressions and understanding societal processes. Students learn this by studying the history of fashion and its impact on culture, environment, media, and economy. Education in fashion studies at undergraduate and advanced levels focuses on fashion history from an international perspective, key concepts and meanings of fashion, and its role in societal development from historical, cultural, social, and economic perspectives.
Job Responsibilities
The job responsibilities include teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels within the subject of fashion studies.
Teaching at the undergraduate level will take place in a course that addresses the development of the fashion industry, its culture-producing fields, and symbol production, as well as the social and cultural significance of fashion and the structure of fashion fields. Teaching at the advanced level will occur in a course that deals with the historical background and development of the global fashion industry, emphasizing the relationship between production, distribution, and consumption of fashion and fashion goods. Both courses have a social science character in their expected learning outcomes and focus of teaching.
Supervision of theses in fashion studies may also be included in the planned job responsibilities.
Teaching will be conducted in both Swedish and English.
