What does the job of a personal assistant entail?

As a personal assistant, you work in the home of a person with a disability. You help with everyday tasks that many take for granted, such as dressing, taking care of the home, personal hygiene, and participating in leisure activities. You make a significant difference and help another person's daily life function.

We have clients of different ages and with various disabilities. Your workplace is wherever the client is, and the job is both varied and eventful. Contributing every day to helping a person live their life as they wish is, in our opinion, the most important job in the world.

Job Description

We are now looking for someone to work with our 18-year-old client who lives in central Malmö with their family. The client is wheelchair-bound and has an intellectual disability. He needs assistance with transfers, personal hygiene, exercise, help during meal situations, etc. He enjoys going for walks, swimming, and other outings. As an assistant, you will also be his spokesperson in social situations as he needs help and support in his communication with others. As an assistant to this client, you will work afternoons, evenings, and weekends, assisting both at home and during various activities outside the home.

We are looking for someone who is engaged, respectful, and attentive. We prefer that you have great patience and the ability to be personal while acting professionally. Regardless of your age, life situation, and background, you could be the assistant we are looking for.

We would like you to:

• have a genuine interest in helping others

• understand and master the Swedish language well

• be playful and social and have experience working with children/youth

• be non-smoker

• be able to swim and go swimming with the client

• have a driver's license

Additional Information

Employment type: Temporary employment as long as the assistance assignment lasts

Extent: Fixed schedule of about 40%

Working hours: 15:45-22:00 on weekdays and 07:00-17:00 / 14:00-22:00 on weekends

Start date: Immediately or by agreement

We apply individual salary setting and have a collective agreement. Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis, and the position may be filled before the application deadline. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. A background check will be conducted before employment.

If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must be able to prove that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only occur after verification of the work permit, as required by the Aliens Ordinance.
