As Chief Physician, you will play a key role in driving improvements and creating conditions for safe, equitable, and evidence-based care together with managers and staff.

Ystad Hospital (LIY) is an emergency hospital operating around the clock. Here, there are maternity services, neonatal care, and specialized emergency care. Approximately 1,000 employees work within our operational areas (VO) emergency and medicine, VO children, women's health and rehabilitation, as well as VO surgery, orthopedics, ear, nose, and throat, intensive and perioperative care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As Chief Physician, you are part of the management team of the administration and serve as an advisor in medical matters to promote and develop patient safety work. The administration has two part-time Chief Physicians, and together you will divide the work and responsibilities within the framework of the assignment. In the team for patient safety issues, there is a developed collaboration with the chief nurse, patient safety developers, and operational managers, all with a common mission and commitment to develop patient safety and medical quality.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Strategic work with patient safety, quality, and process development
• Lex Maria investigations and risk management
• Training initiatives for employees and managers in patient safety
• Media contacts as needed
• Participation in regional and national networks for Chief Physicians.

The position is full-time and includes 50 percent Chief Physician duties combined with clinical service within your hospital specialty. There is also the opportunity to work on medical development within your area. The appointment as Chief Physician will take place for an agreed period, with the main employment within the relevant operational area related to your specialty.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a specialist physician or senior physician authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare. You have good knowledge of Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale. Experience in research, development work, or previous work with patient safety is meritorious, as is management or leadership experience.
