Telecommunications Technician in Technical Surveillance

The Swedish Armed Forces is looking for telecommunications technicians in technical surveillance for Boden.

Technical surveillance refers to the technology with security products that replace or complement manual surveillance. Common subsystems that create technical surveillance systems include:

  • Burglar alarms
  • Access control systems
  • Camera surveillance systems
  • IT security systems

About the Organization

FMTIS has four units that perform operation and maintenance of the Armed Forces' command systems. The Northern Implementation Unit is one of them.

The unit has a geographical spread that largely covers Norrland and is staffed with both military and civilian personnel.

About the Position

As an alarm technician in the Armed Forces and FMTIS, you play an important role in an authority that is in strong growth. Together with competent and dedicated colleagues, you will have responsibility, development, and challenges.

The work is primarily located in Norrbotten County, but work may occur in other parts of the country or abroad.

Main Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include operation and maintenance measures on parts of the Armed Forces' technical surveillance infrastructure. By operation and maintenance, we primarily mean commissioning, preventive (inspections/revisions), and corrective maintenance work on technical surveillance systems as well as ongoing system changes.

The area mainly includes alarm, access, and CCTV systems with associated IT infrastructure (servers, clients, switches, routers, firewalls, etc.). The work requires careful ongoing registration, updating, and documentation in support systems.

Provide technical support to the organization and decision-makers. You will collaborate with various units and suppliers and participate in temporarily organized working groups or projects (e.g., during new installations).

Qualifications

  • High school education with an electrical/telecommunications focus or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way that the employer can assess as equivalent
  • Experience in service and maintenance of technical surveillance systems or equivalent experiences that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • Good ability to communicate in spoken and written Swedish and English
  • Driver's license at least B

Meritorious

  • Experience in documenting telecommunication installations and/or AutoCAD
  • Experience working with mechanical and electromechanical locks
  • Obtained electrical authorization
  • Knowledge of UPS
  • Good knowledge of network technology and Windows-based systems
  • Completed military basic training
  • Familiarity with the Armed Forces' materials/equipment
  • BE and/or C driver's license.

Other Information

Employment type: Permanent. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the authority.

Employment rate: Full-time. The position is civilian.

Work location: Boden

Travel within the service may occur.

Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.
