About the Company

Region Stockholm has the overall responsibility to ensure that everyone living in or visiting the region has access to a well-developed, easily accessible, and reliable public transport system. The Public Transport Administration (TF) is tasked with preparing and implementing decisions regarding the direction and scope for a long-term sustainable public transport system. Additionally, we are responsible for the management and monitoring of traffic operations, as well as maintaining the functionality, safety, and value of the infrastructure. Every day, more than 700,000 people travel using public transport, including the subway, buses, commuter trains, and local trains.

About the Assignment

We are looking for a project manager with signal understanding for the subway section.
The control system is a central part of a traffic management system. Through the control system, traffic is monitored, and the system requests routes for the trains while other parts of the traffic management system are responsible for ensuring a safe route for the train. The current traffic management systems on the red and blue lines come from US&S and are relay-based.

Currently, there is a project underway within the subway section tasked with developing, installing, and commissioning a new digital control system on the red and blue lines. The assignment of this project is to commission it on the existing blue line.

The administration for the expanded subway is currently expanding sections on the blue line, Barkarby – Akalla and Nacka – Söderort.

The new digital control system will also be commissioned on the expansion sections of the blue line.

Description of the Assignment

Understanding the structure of the traffic management system is necessary to complete the assignment, but it is also important to have a high level of knowledge in:

• Project management
• Collaboration between different parties 
• Communication
• Safety in traffic management
• Public procurement

Responsibilities for the Assignment

• Close collaboration with other projects within the public transport administration and within the administration for the expanded subway
• Report and inform stakeholders about status, risks, and obstacles
• Plan/manage/coordinate project activities between different projects
• Lead project meetings
• Contact with the supplier of the new control system for the expansion sections
• Contact with the Transport Agency when approval of the control system for the expansion sections is needed
• Planning for the commissioning of the new control system on the expansion sections. 
• Follow processes, standards, and guidelines that exist for this type of project. 

Competence Requirements

• Civil or engineering degree
• At least 5 years of work experience in:
  -Planning/managing/coordinating project activities in development and commissioning projects
• At least 3 years of experience in project management within a client organization
• Tri-training, at least KAT-19 before starting the assignment

Value-Added Requirements

• At least 6 months of documented work experience in CENELEC and/or safety work in traffic management
• At least 2 years of experience leading projects of a business development nature within rail-bound public transport
• At least 1 year of documented work experience in signal or control systems
