Workplace Description

The position is located at IEA, LTH, Lund University (https://www.iea.lth.se). Our mission is to research and educate on how electrical energy systems can be developed for a sustainable future, particularly regarding technologies and systems for electrical and electromechanical energy conversion. The department has extensive experimental activities both in undergraduate education and research. The activities are located at LTH in Lund and at LTH Campus Helsingborg.

Our laboratories are specially designed to conduct advanced experiments in power electronics and electromechanical energy conversion on systems up to 200 kW power and 1500 V. These include detailed measurements and modeling of components and systems. This specific project involves modeling of electric drive systems for electric vehicles, especially concerning loss formation and thermal modeling.

You will be part of an international team of engineers and researchers, collaborating with the department's research leaders and PhD students. The team's role includes, among other things, the design of components and systems within power electronics and electromechanical energy conversion, related measurement systems, as well as modeling and analysis.

If you are interested in advanced modeling, construction, measurements, and analysis of power electronic components and systems, we now offer an exciting position in a stimulating environment.

Your tasks will consist of approximately equal parts of constructing measurement rigs, measurements, and numerical modeling based on measurement results and knowledge of the construction of the measurement objects, using advanced software tools. You will work together with senior researchers from both academia and industry, both in Sweden and abroad.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • knowledge of electromagnetic circuits and loss formation in electromagnetic circuits
  • knowledge and experience in the design, construction, and use of simulation models for electromagnetic circuits and related loss formation in software tools such as Comsol
  • knowledge and experience in the design, construction, and use of measurement systems for electromagnetic circuits and related loss formation in tools such as LabView
  • educational level equivalent to a master's degree in electrical engineering or similar
  • good problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate, as the work is conducted in an international team with many people
  • good command of English in both spoken and written form

Desirable qualifications for the position are:

  • independence and initiative, demonstrated in a similar work environment
  • recent experience in developing test rigs with control and measurement systems for the described applications
