Hall Prison, located just outside Södertälje, has, in addition to regular departments, special units for inmates with specific needs and one of the country's three security units. Approximately 400 employees and 20 managers manage, lead, and develop the operations that accommodate over 350 inmates. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but the prison also employs administrative staff, educators, production leaders, service technicians, nurses, etc. The inmates are engaged in education, treatment programs, other structured activities, or in the prison's work operations, which include assembly, packaging, laundry, and ceramics production.

You can reach the prison by bus from Östertälje. If you drive, you can park for free in our staff parking lot. For those living far from Södertälje, the prison may provide accommodation for a limited period.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service provides some open healthcare at the primary care level and certain psychiatric outpatient care. In the Stockholm region, about 40 nurses, a dozen psychologists, and several contracted general practitioners and psychiatrists work at the healthcare facilities located in remand and prisons. We are now looking for someone who wants to be part of the healthcare team at Hall Prison. As one of five nurses at the prison, you will work independently with your own clinic and assess which patients need to see a doctor. One day a week, a general practitioner and a physiotherapist are on-site, and two days a week, a psychiatrist is available. You will work with both somatic and psychiatric healthcare, participate in medical consultations, and administer medications. You will also support the prison's correctional officers in assessing the health status and well-being of inmates.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is reliable, secure, and stable in both your professional role and as a person. You have a high ability to collaborate and work well with others, even in acute situations. You take personal responsibility and work independently but are also aware that you are part of a team. You can communicate in an advisory manner with non-medical staff. In your professional role, you make correct assessments and priorities and can make decisions independently. The work often takes place in a fast-paced environment, so we prefer that you enjoy juggling multiple tasks. In meetings with people in distress, you remain calm and stable. You are quality-conscious, structured, and meticulous, even in administrative tasks such as record-keeping.

You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for you who:

  • Are a licensed nurse.
  • Have at least 2 years of experience in the profession.
  • Speak and write good Swedish.

It is an advantage if you have experience in:

  • Primary care
  • Psychiatry
  • Working with incarcerated patients
