Västra Mälardalen Energy and Environment AB (VME) operates in streets, parks, bridges, traffic planning, street lighting, municipal forests, water and sewage, as well as district heating. In the water and sewage department, we produce and distribute drinking water and are responsible for wastewater treatment.

We are now looking for a geographic technician who enjoys a combination of fieldwork and office work, clear routines, and technical tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

With us, you will have a role that makes a difference in everyday life where correct data creates safer operations, better planning, and fewer unnecessary excavations. You will be part of a water and sewage department with clear working methods and close collaboration. In this role, you will work both outdoors and indoors approximately 50/50, but during peak season, the distribution may vary as we handle several parallel jobs, both planned and urgent.

A large part of the work involves measuring and setting out water and sewage lines with GPS/GNSS and then processing measurement data so that the information becomes accurate, traceable, and usable. You will update the utility mapping and ensure that maps and databases maintain high quality, while also producing mapping materials such as connection point maps, materials for new construction maps, and as-built drawings.

The role also includes customer contact, primarily with property owners who have questions about where the municipal lines connect to the private facility. You will provide a professional and friendly response and help clarify what applies.

You will have a varied week where some days you are out in the field with measurements/marking and checks of locations, for example, at newly built or renovated parts. Other days you will work more in the office processing measurement data, updating maps, and quality assuring information, as well as producing materials for colleagues and project managers. In urgent assignments, you may need to adjust and go out at short notice.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements

• High school education, preferably with a technical focus
• Driver's license B
• Good computer skills
• AutoCAD (required) you need to be able to work in AutoCAD in the role

Meritorious

• Experience in measuring/marking with GPS/GNSS
• Experience working with water and sewage networks, utility mapping, or as-built documents
• Experience in GIS/mapping environments and geodata

You should enjoy working where you do things right from the start and where quality, structure, and traceability are important. You like the combination of being outdoors measuring and then getting the information correctly into drawings, maps, and materials.
