Description
The Urban Environment Administration has a comprehensive responsibility for the city's public spaces and overall accessibility.
We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 900 people work in the administration.
The Urban Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg City. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, housing, and quality premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to become sustainable from all perspectives.
Responsibilities
The Development Leader is responsible for leading, coordinating, and developing the administration's work towards a digitized and automated transport system. The assignment has an administrative-wide perspective and aims to create a long-term and cohesive development in the area. The role includes developing, further refining, and anchoring strategic direction, identifying development needs, proposing priorities, and ensuring a clear connection between strategy and implementation.
The Development Leader works closely with the immediate manager and project leaders within the unit to provide strategic direction to ongoing and planned projects and contribute to ensuring that these align with the administration's needs and goals regarding digitization and automated transport systems. The assignment also includes representing the city in collaborative contexts between the municipality and the business community by identifying common development areas, initiating collaborations, and creating structures for long-term cooperation.
The role also includes the responsibility to initiate, coordinate, and participate in applications for national and European projects, as well as to participate in international networks and collaborations. This involves monitoring the external environment in the area, analyzing trends and technological advancements, and translating these into relevant applications in Gothenburg's context.
Qualifications
To apply for the position, you need to:
- Hold a Master's degree in a relevant field or education and experience deemed equivalent by the employer
- Have experience in strategic development work
- Have experience working with intelligent transport systems, digitization of transport systems, or autonomous vehicles
It is advantageous if you have:
- Experience in change management
- Experience in collaboration with the business community and academia
- Experience working in EU projects and their application processes
- Experience participating in international collaborations
- Experience working in or close to municipal operations
- Good understanding of the municipality's role in the transport system's value chain, particularly in the role of road manager
- Experience in relevant subject areas such as traffic, infrastructure, mobility, or technical systems
- Practical experience in operational work (as the role requires the ability to create a clear link between strategy and implementation)
As a person, we see that you can identify and analyze the core of a problem and propose possible solutions. The ability to see connections and draw logical conclusions from limited and/or complex information is something we highly value. Initiative is central to the role – to start activities and achieve results whether the work is done independently or together with others. A strong commitment and enthusiasm for the work is also something we see in you. Opportunities for change are utilized, and situations are created where new ideas and proposals can develop. Others are motivated by your ability to pedagogically describe changes, and criticism is handled constructively. Clarity is a strength – thoughts and ideas are heard, and decisions can be influenced in a certain direction. Through persuasive arguments, enthusiasm and energy are added that encourage good performance, team spirit, and increased motivation. Learning and development are strong driving forces, and new ideas and initiatives for improvements come naturally. Active monitoring of the external environment within the profession and regular reflection on what needs to be developed in the operations is a natural part of the working method.
