Housing with Special Services

Housing with special services is an adapted form of accommodation for adults with disabilities who need support in their daily lives. There are two forms of housing with special services: group housing and service housing. The operation is part of the care and social services sector in Skövde municipality.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking for new employees for Odlingsgatan, a newly established group home located in Trädgårdsstaden, which also has a satellite apartment in central Skövde, where we are also seeking staff.

There are 6 apartments here. Both younger and older individuals with mixed interests live here. Some of our residents are a bit older and have greater care needs, where we provide more support, for example, with personal care and transfers. We work on a schedule with sleeping on-call. We also have staff on awake night shifts in addition to on-call.

In our satellite apartment, staff work around one user. Here, we have double staffing and work 24-hour shifts. Challenging behavior may occur.

We are looking for someone who wants a rewarding and developing job. In the role of support assistant within housing with special services, you have the opportunity to contribute to ensuring that our users can achieve the highest possible quality of life in their daily lives. Based on individual needs and wishes, you support our users by providing practical and everyday assistance. Together with support pedagogues, you are also involved in the everyday work with users in their daily activities. In a pedagogical manner, you stimulate and motivate the individual towards participation and an independent life. The assignment also includes documentation work in our systems.

You assist users with everyday activities such as household chores, personal care, and leisure activities. The job responsibilities also include assistance with transfers, medication distribution, handling physical and digital aids, and performing delegated and prescribed interventions according to the Health and Medical Services Act (HSL).

In addition to the tasks included in the job description, you will also have extended responsibility in a specific area. Your manager will designate, in consultation with you, which area suits you and your profile best. Examples of such roles include responsible support assistant, fire safety representative, and hygiene representative.

Your knowledge and experience are valuable, so it is part of your role to contribute to the development of our common working methods.

Within the care and social services sector, we work flexibly between different units. This means that you may also work shifts (resource shifts) at other homes than the one you normally work at.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a high school education and passing grades from the healthcare and social care program or the child and youth program, or another equivalent education. Training in pedagogy and LSS is an advantage. It is positive (but not a requirement) if you have knowledge of conversation techniques, such as motivational interviewing (MI), social stories, or visual communication. Experience with delegated tasks, clear pedagogical approaches, low-arousal responses, and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) is also advantageous.

As a person, you are calm and secure and have a respectful, good, and adapted approach. To succeed in the role, we see that you have good collaboration skills, are solution-focused, and can easily adapt to new conditions. To thrive in the role, we believe you have the ability to take personal responsibility in your professional role, are proactive, and are used to working independently. Experience with challenging behavior is desirable.

In this role, it is important that you can communicate verbally and in writing in Swedish, as you and the user need to understand each other, but also to carry out documentation. You are computer literate and preferably have experience with social documentation.

A driver's license is desirable.

Upon employment, you must be able to present a criminal record extract from the police.
