• Ward 34 is an acute inpatient ward with 12 beds for children aged 0-18 years.
• The neonatal unit has a county-wide responsibility for the care of all sick newborns or premature infants in Dalarna. We provide both light care and intensive care in the unit's 12 beds as well as outpatient services.

Training position VUB Health and Medical Care for Children and Adolescents Job Responsibilities

The work as a pediatric nurse in ward 34 or at the pediatric clinics involves being part of the multiprofessional team created for the child/family and being responsible for the child's care. The team may also include pediatric nurses/nursing assistants, doctors, social workers, dietitians, physiotherapists, and play therapists, depending on the needs of the child/family in accordance with patient-centered care.

To be successful as a pediatric nurse, you should be flexible, stable, have a mature and calm approach, and the ability to handle stress. You collaborate well with other professional categories and work independently. Your working method should be educational, and you have good communication skills. A desire for development, a forward-looking attitude, and engagement are valued qualities.

As a pediatric nurse in the neonatal unit, you are responsible for the care of the child/family, where child- and family-centered developmental supportive care is fundamental. You work in a team with, among others, pediatric nurses/nursing assistants, doctors, social workers, dietitians, and physiotherapists. We work purposefully and systematically with care development and competence development. As a pediatric nurse, you are part of the unit's alarm team, participate in emergency situations during childbirth, and during cesarean sections. Medical technical equipment is a significant part of neonatal care.

You are a licensed nurse with a bachelor's degree in nursing science or equivalent nursing education of 180 credits including 15 credits thesis or equivalent. We prefer that you have worked a few years as a nurse.

You will receive a permanent position as a nurse in the relevant operation. During the semester periods, you will have a training position with a base salary as a nurse. Outside of semester periods, you will work according to a schedule day/night/weekend.
