In May 2026, Linköping municipality will take over responsibility for home care, home health care, home rehabilitation, and assessed security accommodations in the southwest area, which includes Lambohov, Skäggetorp, Vikingstad, and Ulrika/Nykil.

Working as a nurse during on-call hours suits you if you enjoy challenges and a varied workday. You need to be able to assess and prioritize between different patients' care needs, especially in situations when several need care at the same time. During your shift, you will handle planned errands as well as incoming urgent assessments that need to be made. This includes managing medications, infusions, and medical technical equipment.

Once you have worked for a while and feel secure in your role, you will have the opportunity to work on the phone (care to care) during certain shifts. In the care-to-care function, you receive calls from nursing staff and care neighbors and make assessments over the phone. You are also a support to your colleagues who are out on patient visits. This includes guiding and advising nursing staff over the phone, where you need to gather relevant information to determine the urgency and whether a physical examination by a nurse is necessary.

Your Workplace

Our on-call service is based at Ålerydsvägen 5. The on-call service receives all patients within the municipal health care organization. This means patients from nursing homes, home health care, within LSS, and social psychiatry. Therefore, you will meet patients in their own homes as well as at our various accommodations around Linköping municipality. With us, you will have the opportunity to develop as you encounter a wide variety of care needs.

During a shift, there is always one nurse in the care-to-care phone who receives incoming calls and distributes cases to their mobile colleagues in the field. The number of mobile colleagues on duty depends on the current care load. Currently, six nurses work in the on-call service. You will also work together with nurses from home health care and municipal health care, with some duty in the on-call service and night nurses.

Your working hours are scheduled from 14:00 to 21:00 and 16:00 to 21:00 on weekday evenings during the schedule period. Duty every third weekend is included with working hours from 8:00 to 16:30 or 16:00 to 21:00.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse, and it is advantageous if you are a specialist nurse in elderly care, district nurse, or have another orientation that the employer deems equivalent. You need to have at least two years of work experience as a nurse. Experience working as a nurse within municipal health care and/or at a health center is advantageous. We also see it as an advantage if you have experience in making phone assessments in your role as a nurse. Additionally, experience with medical technical equipment such as CVK and KAD is desirable.

Since the work involves documentation and contacts with patients and relatives, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as good computer skills. You need to have a B driver's license for manual transmission, considering that you work mobile throughout Linköping municipality.

As a person, you work well with others, listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts constructively. Furthermore, you have the ability to lead the work and understand how individuals absorb knowledge, and can therefore adapt how you convey information to achieve common goals.

In your work, you can plan, organize, and prioritize your work and easily adapt to changing circumstances. You make correct assessments and have the ability to weigh complex information and various considerations.
