Job Responsibilities
We are now looking for a support educator for Daily Activities with units located both in Hisingen and in the City.
The units are integrated in hotels as well as care and nursing homes.
As a support educator, you are a role model and you have overall responsibility for the educational work in the operations aimed at individuals covered by LSS and who have decisions regarding Daily Activities. You will establish working methods, ensure they are used and developed effectively based on the needs of the operations. You support staff in creating, further developing, and following up on implementation plans and social documentation according to laws and guidelines. You create and adapt tasks for participants in the operations together with the support assistants.
You are also responsible for holding regular check-ins with partners and ensuring that the collaboration works. In this role, you have many points of contact and you need to have good social skills to adapt based on whom you meet, as you are in many ways the “spider in the web”.
As you are responsible for method meetings and other professional development, it is important that you feel secure in your role and have experience leading workgroups. In your role as a support educator, you use your knowledge and experience to guide and support the staff group. You provide guidance based on the needs of the operations and methods in direct work.
You will be part of a network with support educators at Daily Activities Hisingen led by a business developer, and you will collaborate with relatives, guardians, and social workers. You will have close cooperation with the unit manager regarding business development from both a pedagogical and an economic perspective.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with education as a support educator or a post-secondary specialization in the area of disabilities that includes at least 200 YH credits, 120 university credits, or a combination equivalent to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 university credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for people with disabilities. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care.
Communication is an important part of the job, which requires you to have passed Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1. If you do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1, you may be offered to take a language test through the test user Educateit.
It is a requirement that you have previously worked as a support educator within community-integrated Daily Activities. You also need to have experience working with the LOV model within Daily Activities as you will need to adapt the operations based on finances and upcoming assignments. Furthermore, you should have experience with the methods Motivational Interviewing, Supported Employment, and clear pedagogical approaches. It is desirable that you have experience supporting individuals in guiding conversations and a recovery-oriented approach. It is an advantage if you have previously been involved in adapting operations based on needs and changes.
It is also required that you have good physical ability as you will move across a large geographical area and may need to work at several different locations during the same working day.
You are motivated by clearly defined goals and have the ability to translate these into concrete actions. With a focus on the goal, you can reprioritize work when conditions or needs change. You follow up and report results and goal fulfillment. You have the courage and ability to make your own decisions within the framework of your assignment without being dependent on others. You take responsibility for your tasks and drive the work forward. Additionally, you are motivated to learn new things and develop, and you have the ability to keep many balls in the air at the same time. You come up with new ideas and take the initiative for improvements. You actively monitor your professional field, regularly reflect on what needs to be developed in your operations, and can quickly adapt to situations that arise.
