Healthcare Assistant with Care Coordinator Assignment

The Trelleborg Hospital is the small hospital with the big heart. The emergency and medicine department (VO) has about 270 employees who conduct internal medicine activities in cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, and neurology. This includes a large outpatient operation, the emergency department, three inpatient wards, and a day care unit.

At our Emergency Department in Trelleborg, which is part of the Near Care and Health management, we provide internal medicine emergency care every day of the week between 08:00 and 20:00. On weekdays between 08:00 and 16:00, we also receive patients with surgical, urological, and orthopedic symptoms. Annually, we have about 13,000 visits and nearly 1,000 alarms.

We work in teams consisting of doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants, and medical secretaries. Additionally, we work closely with anesthesiology and specialist consultants. Almost all patients treated in internal medicine in Trelleborg pass through the Emergency Department, and it is there that we together make a difference. We have nearly 35 employees, some of whom are specialized in emergency care. We have a broad range of competencies from newly graduated to many years of experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We now welcome a healthcare assistant with care coordinator responsibilities to join us.

The work at the Emergency Department is varied and includes, among other things, triage, monitoring, and treatment of acutely ill patients, such as during priority 1 alarms.

In your role as a healthcare assistant, you will work with care, sampling, and dressings. Together, we work in a varied and stimulating environment, where flexibility and collaboration are required.

The position also includes working with care coordination, where you will be an important part of the daily work with contacts both with wards and other hospitals.

With us, you are offered a broad foundation with an individually tailored introductory program, where progression occurs through gradually increased responsibility. We have different positions such as team, alarms, orthopedics, and admissions. We have local introductory training such as S-HLR and recurring exercise scenarios.

The working hours are mixed, meaning they are scheduled for both day, evening, and weekend.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a trained healthcare assistant with a focus on emergency care/healthcare according to the previous program structure, or are a trained healthcare assistant within the new program structure who has studied all specializations. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing. Additionally, you have experience in inpatient care. It is advantageous if you have experience in emergency care.

As a person, you are secure in your professional role, have good collaboration skills, and see opportunities instead of obstacles. Furthermore, you have a strong commitment and a positive attitude. You are also driven by new challenges and have an open mind to learn new things. We also appreciate that you have good communication skills as we work in teams. As of July 1, 2023, the title healthcare assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title healthcare assistant within care and nursing. If you currently have a permanent position as a healthcare assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title as a healthcare assistant until June 30, 2033. At any interview/employment, you must be able to present proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed on July 1, 2023. If you do not currently have a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare or are covered by the transitional provisions, it means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant and not healthcare assistant.
