Lerum Municipality is known for its scenic places with lakes and forests. The municipality has 3,200 employees and 43,000 residents but expects to grow significantly in the coming years. Lerum is only a 20-minute commute from Gothenburg and is currently facing a development-intensive period with many exciting projects underway, ranging from schools to housing. Welcome to work in Support and Care this summer!
We are looking for summer interns for home care, LSS operations, personal assistance, elderly care (also known as special housing), and short-term care.
Schedule Period
You will work during the period of weeks 26–33. To receive a work schedule, you must be available to work at least four consecutive weeks during this period, but you can advantageously work the entire summer. In home care, there is an opportunity to work for a longer period, from week 23 to week 36, for those who wish to work more weeks during the summer.
The number of weeks and availability will be confirmed during your interview.
The minimum employment rate will be 75%, but there is also the possibility to work 100% in certain operations.
Working Hours
The work shifts are scheduled for days and evenings, weekdays and weekends. The earliest a shift can start is at 6:30 AM and ends no later than 10:30 PM. In some operations within functional support, there is also a sleeping on-call duty, which means you sleep at the workplace.
For those with previous work experience in support and care, there is the opportunity to work awake nights.
Introduction
Before your first shift, you will be introduced by a supervisor at the workplace, where you will learn about tasks, routines, and the needs of the users. You will also complete online training. If medication management is included in your tasks, you will need to complete training in medication delegation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
You always start from what the user needs and contribute to their well-being and a valuable and secure everyday life. Examples of common tasks include:
- providing support in everyday situations, such as taking walks
- assisting with showering and toilet visits
- cleaning and laundry
- distributing medication (mainly relevant in home care and functional support)
- healthcare tasks according to instructions and delegation from a nurse
- documentation in administrative systems
Elderly Care and Short-Term Care
In elderly care and short-term care, there are somatic and dementia departments. Here, you primarily work in a group, but independent work also occurs. Your task is to assist the care recipients with practical care work based on their needs and to have activities such as outings and board games.
Home Care and Service Unit
In home care, you support the care recipients according to their needs at home. You perform practical care work independently but have regular contact with colleagues and coordinators. Sometimes you work in pairs. In the home care service unit, you only perform service tasks, such as shopping, cleaning, and social activities like walks.
Functional Support
Functional support includes LSS operations, psychiatric housing, and personal assistance. You work with individuals who have intellectual, physical, neuropsychiatric, or mental disabilities. The work is performed either in the care recipient's home or in housing. In addition to practical care work, you provide pedagogical support in daily life, personal care, and create an active everyday life based on the individual's needs and conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Who are you?
You enjoy meeting people, easily create contact, and have a genuine interest in each individual you meet. With your empathetic ability and respect for integrity, you contribute to a safe and meaningful everyday life for our care recipients. You provide good service, collaborate well with others, and take responsibility for driving the work forward.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Education or experience in care and support is an advantage. The work includes documentation and communication with care recipients, colleagues, and other partners, so you need to feel comfortable with the Swedish language both in speech and writing.
Driver's License
In home care and certain parts of functional support, you need to have a B driver's license, and in some cases, be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
Important to Know
