The Traffic Office is responsible for maintaining and developing Stockholm's public spaces to ensure they are safe, attractive, accessible, and sustainable. The mission includes everything from taking care of the existing urban environment to implementing strategic investment projects and planning for tomorrow's growing metropolis. To accomplish our mission, we are about 450 colleagues, mainly located in the newly renovated premises of the Technical Board House on Kungsholmen. We are now looking for a junior GIS engineer for the new unit Living City in the Urban Environment Department.

We are in an expansive phase where a lot is happening. On September 1st, we launched a new unit under the Urban Environment Department. The unit has a two-part mission focusing on geodata/GIS and place activation with temporary furnishings, design, and activation of various locations around the city. Initially, the unit consists of 17 employees and a unit manager.

Your role

You will be part of a team in the unit that works with the management and development of the geodata systems used in the city for the operation and maintenance of public space. The team constitutes an important specialist competence in geographic information management and the management of geodata systems, user support, and requirement formulation.

You will work with the management and updating of our geographic information for the operation and maintenance of public space and support the organization with GIS analyses and geodata solutions.

The work is carried out in close dialogue with other operations in the department.

Your tasks include, among others:

  • updating and maintaining geographic information
  • processing, analyzing, and presenting geodata
  • providing user support
  • participating in process and operational development
  • improving processes with digital solutions
  • participating in IT support procurements
  • managing and configuring geodata systems
  • monitoring the external environment

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • a university degree in geographic IT, technical surveying, GIS, or another education that the employer considers equivalent
  • experience working with GIS and geodata
  • good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish

It is an advantage if you also have experience in:

  • a role as an object specialist
  • FME and QGIS
  • operation and maintenance activities within the public sector

As a person, you are meticulous, structured, and proactive. You have a good ability to plan and prioritize your work effectively in relation to the whole. You are attentive and have excellent collaboration skills. In this recruitment, we will place great emphasis on your personal qualities, motivation, and commitment to the task.
