About the position

Do you want to contribute to building military capability from the ground up while being part of establishing a new staff in Jönköping? As a section chief at the Swedish Armed Forces Logistics (FMLOG)/Supply Unit South staff (FörsE Syd), you will play a central role in the establishment of a new organization during a phase characterized by development, establishment, and change. The position involves leadership close to operations, where structure, direction, and capability are gradually shaped as missions, working methods, and staffing evolve.

About the unit

FörsE Syd is a newly established unit within the Swedish Armed Forces responsible for logistics to military bases and units within Military Region West and South. The unit is in a building phase with the responsibility to establish a staff in Jönköping as well as storage operations at several locations in southern and western Sweden. The operations are characterized by growth, gradually increasing deliveries, and the need to develop functioning structures, collaboration, and working methods over time. The staff is planned to consist of both military and civilian personnel with a broad collective competence. The staff's mission is to support and lead FörsE Syd in managing the entire unit's operational and responsibility area and to contribute to cohesive working methods and priorities in an organization under construction.

Main tasks

As a section chief, you lead and support employees within their respective areas where both tasks and organization develop in parallel. You have personnel and work environment responsibility as well as responsibility for planning, executing, and following up on operations. Together with your employees, you create conditions for carrying out assigned tasks. As the head of the implementation section, you are responsible for:

  • Leading, coordinating, and following up ongoing operations and daily activities.
  • Contributing to the development of the section through competence supply adapted to the needs of the operations, both short and long term.
  • Ensuring a structured introduction and establishment of new employees, where roles, responsibilities, and working methods are clarified gradually.
  • Producing, communicating, and following up orders, briefings, and reports to directly subordinate managers and to higher management.
  • Maintaining readiness and adapting operations to changing conditions and new given frameworks.
  • Contributing to the development of working methods, collaboration, and capability in an environment characterized by growth and change.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

  • Military position (OF2/SO7)
  • Good experience in personnel responsibility and leading subordinate personnel with functional responsibility.
  • Good computer and documentation experience.
  • Driver's license B – manual transmission
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both speech and writing.

Personal qualities

To succeed in this role, you need to be confident in your leadership and have the ability to act even when all conditions are not yet fully defined and in place. You have a structured approach, good prioritization ability, and can translate overarching missions into practical implementation. You are responsible, have high personal integrity, and build trust through clarity, presence, and consistent action according to our values.

You thrive in an environment where adaptation and development are part of everyday life and where leadership sometimes requires you to roll up your sleeves. Collaboration and a holistic perspective are natural parts of your way of working – for you, the needs of the operations and the team are always prioritized over your own. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

  • Good knowledge of FM operations, organization, garrison locations, and contact paths, etc.
