Planning Officer for the Training Battalion

As a planning officer, you will become a central part of the battalion staff and an important voice in shaping the long-term operations of the training battalion. You will work in the 5-function under the leadership of the staff chief and contribute to creating clear frameworks and good conditions for the companies' planning and execution. Here you will have the opportunity to combine structure, collaboration, and strategic thinking – while making a concrete difference for our conscripts and future colleagues.

About the Training Battalion

The Training Battalion plays a key role in the growth of the Navy. We are responsible for the basic training of conscripts who will proceed to combat units, naval units, or officer training. The battalion consists of a battalion staff and two training companies, and you will work at the Naval Base in Karlskrona – an environment where professionalism, development, and cohesion are at the center.

Main Responsibilities

Long-term planning of the training battalion's operations (1–3 years ahead)

  • Create structures and conditions that support the company commanders' planning
  • Collaborate with functions within the battalion, the garrison, and other units in different locations
  • Contribute to a sustainable and well-coordinated training flow for our conscripts

This is a role for you who enjoys having an overview, influencing the whole, and working closely with people.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Completed officer training with a passing result, at least OF1 or OR6
  • Driver's license

Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who is confident in collaboration and takes initiative when needed. You communicate clearly in speech and writing and build good relationships with various stakeholders. You are meticulous, structured, and can switch between a holistic perspective and detailed work. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience in conscript training
  • Experience working in a battalion staff or similar
  • Good administrative skills, including work in the Office suite and VIDAR

The overarching task of the Naval Base is to support the naval units with logistics such as transportation, basing, surveillance, and medical care, both at home and abroad. The Naval Base is headquartered in Karlskrona but operates where needed, for example in Berga/Muskö, south of Stockholm, and in Gothenburg. Other major tasks for the Naval Base include monitoring Sweden's 2700 km long coastline with territorial waters.
