Uddevalla – a place for a lifetime

Welcome to become a part of our growing municipality - and to work together with us to provide our residents with even better service.

We offer an attractive workplace that gives you great opportunities to develop in your professional role. Our goal is for everyone to thrive and grow - throughout their entire working life. We also want to develop as an employer and actively work to make the best use of your knowledge and engagement. We appreciate and encourage co-creation from everyone.

Uddevalla municipality is a beautiful place by the sea in the heart of Bohuslän. We believe in an open and positive interaction between the municipality, education, business, and culture.

We hope that you will thrive with us!

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference for children, youth, and families

We are looking for a committed and driven colleague for our unit for the investigation of children and youth. Welcome to become a part of our team!

What do we want, and why?

The department's common goal/vision for children and youth states:

Together we provide children and their families in Uddevalla with the right support early on so that children and youth notice a positive difference in their daily lives.

To create good conditions for a sustainable working life, we work according to the FAS Uddevalla model. The model means that investigations follow four clear phases of two weeks. This allows you as a social worker to have longer periods where you can work on your ongoing cases without simultaneously receiving new cases. This contributes to a more predictable workday and makes it easier to provide quality support to children, youth, and families.

Uddevalla municipality is at the forefront of digitalization and the use of AI-based support. Since October 1, 2025, the investigation unit has been using the app Conversation to Text, which records, transcribes, and summarizes conversations with clients. The app contributes to clear and legally secure documentation and allows caseworkers to spend more time on dialogue and analysis, instead of administration. About the job

Working as a social worker in the Investigation Unit for Children and Youth means that you work for and together with children and their families. The workplace has high ambitions with a focus on quality and legal security.

We are a learning organization with well-functioning support structures to provide you with support in your work so you can develop while also having a good working environment. There is a good collegial spirit where we take responsibility for tasks and for well-being together.

The unit consists of about 26 social workers and five senior social workers. There are also two operationally close unit managers. In the workgroup, there is a lot of experience and knowledge that we share with each other. Introduction is an important part of our work, and there is a plan for all our new employees to integrate into the work effectively.

The new Social Services Act means for us that we must be more accessible, outward-looking, and work more preventively. We want and expect all social workers to be part of this exciting and necessary work that involves close collaboration with citizens, schools, police, child and adolescent psychiatry, etc.

Job responsibilities

With us, we investigate needs and follow up on granted measures for children and youth aged 0–20 years where there are concerns about how the child or young person is doing.

Your main tasks will be:

  • To investigate children's needs for protection and support
  • To plan measures together with children and parents and then follow up on how they are implemented
  • To work together with partners, both internally and externally, to ensure that children in Uddevalla grow up under good conditions and develop favorably

You are expected to be part of the joint development work in the unit where we have a strong commitment to develop our operations together in line with evidence and proven experience. The work is varied and involves constant challenges and opportunities to learn new things. You are responsible for your assignment and independently drive your own work while participating in planning and development work.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must:

  • Be a social worker, social pedagogue with a university degree, or have another higher education that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • Have a B driver's license

In addition, we are looking for someone who:

  • Shows a good ability to independently plan, structure, and reprioritize work when the situation requires it.
  • Has a good ability to express themselves well in both speech and writing.
  • Works independently as well as in a team and values creating and maintaining good relationships with the children and families we meet in our work.

If you also have experience in authority exercise and in-depth knowledge of child and youth development, we see this as meritorious.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We offer

  • An engaged and supportive team
  • Continuous supervision and professional development
  • A structured introduction with close contact with management
  • An experienced colleague as a mentor during the initial period
  • A social administrator who assists social workers with administrative tasks
