The Adult Psychiatry Unit (VO) in Kristianstad offers specialist psychiatric care in the northeastern and southeastern municipalities of Skåne. We have a wide geographical spread, but despite this, our operations are characterized by proximity and short decision-making paths. Within our inpatient care, we have close collaboration and high flexibility between departments, where we are all here to help and support each other. Ward 4 is a general psychiatric ward, which means you have the opportunity to provide psychiatric care within the broad spectrum of psychiatry. This means you will meet individuals with affective disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety issues, crises, substance abuse, and more. Our operation also includes care for user-directed admissions.

It is important for us to retain and recruit nurses who want to stay and develop within the organization. In 2023, we started a new introduction program for newly hired nurses that spans a year to ensure competence and security for new nurses.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In your role as a nurse at night, you will design care based on a person-centered approach. You are expected to lead the nursing work together with nursing assistants. In addition, tasks include monitoring health status, assessing care needs, providing support conversations and counseling, medication management, and documentation.

Working in psychiatric inpatient care provides valuable experiences that you can use throughout your career. In addition to becoming an expert in interactions, you will have time for each patient and play a key role in psychiatric care. With us, you will have time to reflect on your work and interactions with patients together with other colleagues in the team. Many patients in psychiatric inpatient care have a high degree of comorbidity, which gives you the opportunity to work and develop both in psychiatric and somatic care. We work with low-arousal approaches to reduce the use of coercive measures. Person-centered care is the focus, and each patient has two to three contact persons who together with the patient develop a care plan.

We encourage you to enjoy working with care development in various forms of improvement work. On the wards, teams consisting of nursing assistants, nurses, social workers, doctors, physiotherapists, medical secretaries, and a unit manager collaborate to provide the best interactions and care quality for our patients. With us, as a nurse, you will participate in the development of care content within our inpatient care, such as person-centered care, safe and meaningful inpatient care, domestic violence, suicide prevention work, and much more. QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a licensed nurse with permission to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale are a requirement. We welcome both those with extensive experience and those who are newer in their nursing role. We consider it an advantage if you have experience working in psychiatry and/or specialist training in psychiatry. Likewise, if you have experience working with the systems Melior and/or Mina Planer.

Regarding personal qualities, we prefer that you are calm and secure in your professional role. In your work, you are flexible and have a quality-conscious and positive approach. As you are expected to lead the nursing work, good planning and structuring skills are required, as well as the ability to see the bigger picture in the organization. At the same time, you are a good team player who sees collaboration as a prerequisite for good work. You are attentive to patients, relatives, and colleagues and contribute to a good working climate in the team. As we are keen to find the right person for the position, we place great emphasis on personal suitability.
