Make a difference. Every day.
Do you want to help build a new specialist service from the ground up and work person-centered with patients who have complex and long-term needs? We are now looking for an occupational therapist for our new Rehabilitation Clinic for post-infectious symptoms in Malmö. The clinic is being established to provide structured and equitable care for patients with long-term post-infectious symptoms such as post-COVID and ME/CFS. The service will start on April 1 and has a regional mandate within the Southern Healthcare Region.
The clinic will accept individuals over 18 years old with at least six months of symptoms following an infection or other long-term and complex fatigue conditions, where other somatic or psychiatric causes have been excluded. The patient group often presents a complex symptom profile including pronounced fatigue, post-exertional malaise (PEM), pain, cognitive difficulties, and reduced functional ability. The work is team-based and interprofessional, focusing on in-depth assessment, initiation of treatment and rehabilitation, as well as planned return to primary care and local rehabilitation resources.
The service is located in Malmö on the hospital grounds in newly renovated premises and is co-located with other rehabilitation services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As an occupational therapist, you will play a central role in the clinic's multiprofessional team. Your mission includes conducting in-depth occupational therapy assessments of activity ability, energy management, cognitive function, and daily structure for patients with post-infectious long-term symptoms.
You will work alongside doctors, physiotherapists, and psychologists in the team's collective assessment and rehabilitation planning. The interventions are designed to be person-centered and tailored to the individual's symptom profile, functional level, and life situation. The work also includes providing advice, support, and strategies for activity balance, energy conservation, and adjustments in daily life. Digital healthcare contacts may occur when appropriate.
Part of the work may also involve tasks as a rehabilitation coordinator, which includes coordinating rehabilitation efforts, dialogue with patients, healthcare providers, and, if necessary, external actors such as the Social Insurance Agency.
Additionally, you will contribute to service development by improving work methods, routines, and care processes, as well as collaborating with primary care and other actors during referrals and follow-ups.
We offer you the opportunity to help establish a new specialist clinic with significant patient value. You will work in a multidisciplinary team with good opportunities to influence work methods, content, and development of the service. The position also offers opportunities for professional development and participation in service development in an area where the need for knowledge is large and growing.
