Kålltorps Hospice is a palliative care department and unique in its kind as the only municipal hospice in all of Sweden, operated by the City of Gothenburg. We provide good care at the end of life in a positive and safe environment, where all senses are stimulated through beautifully decorated rooms, good food, and a lush outdoor environment in the Garden of Senses. Our care is based on the hospice philosophy, which is a symptom-relieving holistic care for the severely ill at the end of life and their relatives. We work based on the guiding principles of safety, integrity, well-being, and quality of life.

Kålltorps Hospice is a nurse-led operation where nurses and nursing assistants work together to meet the needs of the patients. We take measures to alleviate symptoms and contribute to a good quality of life for the patient while providing security for their relatives. Supportive conversations with both the patient and relatives are an important part of creating safety in the work. Many of the patients come directly from hospitals or palliative teams, and you need to feel secure in caring for severely ill patients.

We place great importance on collaboration, and our interdisciplinary team includes nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, and unit managers, and everyone's competence is important and contributes to good and safe care. We offer an individually tailored introduction with experienced and competent colleagues.

As a nurse, you have the medical responsibility; you assess various health conditions and take measures to alleviate symptoms. You have the overall responsibility for overseeing and prioritizing the needs that arise. If necessary, you contact doctors from the palliative section at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. You actively participate in all parts of the nursing work and document according to current legislation.

As a nursing assistant, you will work with personal care, encouragement, and support. You plan, implement, and follow up on care work together with your nursing colleague. Some tasks are performed after delegation from licensed personnel.

Our Offer to You as a Nurse or Nursing Student:

In addition to the base salary, we offer a salary supplement during weeks 26–33:

• 12,000 SEK per month for those who are licensed nurses
• 3,000 SEK per month for those who are nursing students (with approved courses up to and including semester 4)

The supplement applies to full-time work. For part-time work, the supplement is paid proportionally to the employment rate.

For those who are hourly-paid substitutes, the individually set hourly wage is increased by:

• 72.72 SEK per hour for licensed nurses
• 18.18 SEK per hour for nursing students

About You

A very important part of the work involves meeting with patients and their relatives. You have a good approach where you show respect, consideration, and empathy. Furthermore, you have an open and positive attitude and base your actions on the needs of the patient. You are secure in your role as a nurse/nursing assistant and take responsibility for both your own and the shared tasks with the best interest of the organization and the patient in focus. It is also a prerequisite that you enjoy working in a team and have very good collaborative skills.

Working at Kålltorps Hospice places high demands on you to be secure and confident in your professional role. You need to have good knowledge in handling medical technical equipment and feel comfortable performing extensive nursing measures in your daily work.

You are a trained nurse or nursing assistant, and previous experience in palliative or oncological care is highly meritorious. It is also meritorious if you have specialized training in palliative care as a nurse or specialized training in palliative care (YH education) as a nursing assistant.
