PTP Psychologist at Medical Unit Health Professions
The Medical Unit Health Professions offers you as a PTP psychologist a broad and versatile service.
Regardless of placement within the organization, you will gain experience in various areas of the hospital during the PTP year, as well as experience in both treatment and neuropsychological assessments. We strive for you to deepen your clinical knowledge within the psychologist role during the PTP year, with a strong focus on practical psychological work. The operations are conducted according to evidence-based psychological practice with a focus on continuous development and quality assurance, which gives you as a PTP psychologist the opportunity to learn, grow, and actively contribute to improvements during your service.
About the position
As a PTP psychologist, your main placement will be within one of three areas:
Behavioral Medicine (including digital reception), Neuropsychology for children, or Neuropsychology for adults.
As part of the educational mission of the organization, both interns and candidates from various psychology programs are welcomed. As a PTP psychologist, you will also mentor these students. Additionally, there is the opportunity to work with supervision and consultation for staff groups within healthcare.
As an active PTP psychologist at the hospital, you work closely with other professional groups in the interprofessional care offered to patients at Karolinska University Hospital. You exchange knowledge with other professions and contribute your specific expertise so that together we can develop the best possible care for our patients.
About the areas:
Behavioral Medicine – children, adolescents, and adults
Here we meet patients who, alongside somatic illness, experience anxiety, fear, or depression that affects their daily lives. We offer assessment and treatment for children with injection phobia or chronic pain, as well as adults with epilepsy or cancer.
Digital Reception
A part of the Behavioral Medicine section focusing on digital assessment and internet-based treatment. We work with chronic pain in adolescents and adults, as well as psychological support after physical trauma. The reception is in a development phase, and you will actively participate in operational and treatment development, for example, in heart issues, needle phobia, and parental support for children with diabetes.
Neuropsychology – children
At Astrid Lindgren's Children's Hospital, children with complex neurological and developmental issues, often related to rare somatic or pediatric neurological conditions, are assessed. The assessments are conducted in multidisciplinary teams, for example, in cases of acquired brain injuries or concurrent neuropsychiatric questions.
Neuropsychology – adults
Here we meet adults with neurological diagnoses or symptoms from the central nervous system. Assessments are conducted in teams at cognitive clinics (focusing on suspected dementia), within inpatient care, and at specialized clinics for diagnoses such as epilepsy, MS, and ALS.
The position is a fixed-term employment lasting from 2026-09-01 to 2027-08-30.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Completed psychology degree
Meritorious:
- Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form
- Previous experience in healthcare.
