Special Education Teacher International English School Österåker

In August 2024, we opened the doors to our new school, International English School Österåker.

IES Österåker is a school for preschool class to grade 9. When the school is fully booked, we will have approximately 600 students distributed across two parallel classes per grade. We follow the Swedish curriculum where up to 50% of the teaching is conducted in English.

IESÖ consists of a newly built and a partially renovated school building and is located in central Åkersberga. The school is surrounded by sports facilities, large green areas, and the archipelago, all within commuting distance to Stockholm.

Your new job

As a special education teacher with us, you will work to identify, analyze, and remove barriers in the learning environment and provide support to students in need of special assistance. A special education teacher has a coaching role and often serves as a sounding board for other teachers and educators, while also providing individual instruction and support to students in need of this, both in and out of the classroom.

You will also be responsible for documenting support measures and following up on action programs. The role involves close collaboration with teaching teachers, mentors, and the student health team to ensure that each student receives the right support at the right time.

Responsibilities include:

• Mapping and pedagogical investigations
• Establishing, documenting, and following up on action programs
• Planning and implementing special educational measures
• Guidance and support to colleagues
• Collaboration with the student health team
• Contact and cooperation with guardians

Your profile

We are looking for a licensed special education teacher. You are structured, solution-focused, and have a good ability to create trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You are a team player who thrives in close collaboration with teachers and student health and have an inclusive approach.

You have:

• Good knowledge of adaptations and special support
• Experience in conducting pedagogical mappings and writing action programs
• The ability to analyze learning environments and suggest development measures
• A clear leadership style and a safe approach

Teaching is conducted in Swedish. The working language among colleagues is both Swedish and English, so you also need to have good knowledge of English.

The position is 100%. We apply a 6-month probationary period.
