The care department is part of the specialist clinic for Medicine Geriatrics and Rehabilitation. We have 34 inpatient care places where we care for patients in two sections, one containing geriatric and rehabilitation places and the other caring for patients with various acute internal medical conditions. Our large patient groups include infection patients and patients with cardiological conditions, COPD/Asthma, as well as geriatric patients and patients in need of rehabilitation after stroke or orthopedic conditions. In the spring of 2026, we are also planning and starting our Acute Geriatric care places.

As an employee with us, you are expected to rotate between all sections and thus gain a broad competence within the profession.

Assistant nurse tasks in an inpatient care department involve varied and responsible teamwork. You work independently and closely with patients in care and mobilization. Other common tasks include risk assessments, wound dressings, and sampling.

Day, evening, and weekend shifts are included. There is an opportunity to participate in the planning of your schedule.

We are looking for someone who

• is a trained assistant nurse who has completed the Health and Care program or the vocational package Health and Care in adult education
• has a diploma from the Health and Care College

Information about the job title

As of July 1, 2023, assistant nurse is a protected job title (https://legitimation.socialstyrelsen.se/underskoterska-blir-en-skyddad-yrkestitel/). This means that you need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title assistant nurse within health and care.

You can apply for the certificate from July 1, 2023. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in health and care, but with a different title than assistant nurse. For those offered a job with us in Region Dalarna after July 1, this means that the title in your employment contract will be Care Assistant until you can present your certificate. If you had a permanent position with the title assistant nurse when the new regulations came into effect on July 1, 2023, you can continue to use the assistant nurse title for 10 years. You can keep the title even if you change workplace/employer after July 1. After that, you need to have a certificate of protected job title to use the title assistant nurse.
